anyone know of a good instant messaging software?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum

I am having big problems with signing into msn messenger and msn messenger live, i was hoping to find another instant messaging program which allows me to add people onto a buddylist who have hotmail email account, do you know any program other than msn?

Doesn't support hotmail emails, or emails in general though.
