I need an app which uses my phone's camera to record, but only when movement is detected. I don't mind paying a few pounds for it, as long as it does exactly what I need it to.

Basically, someone at work is trying to sabotage my work and give me hell, so I want to catch him in the act. He'll be at work tomorrow on days (I'm on nights) so I need something to catch him out.

Any ideas?

EDIT: The phone (Note 3) will be in a basement with no signal, so I need something I can start up and forget until I'm back tomorrow.

Or you could find out where they live and get on this site;

Now who from GD set this up :D.

(Dammit swear filter it's another word for poo before anyone goes to a whole other website :D)

I'm wondering what the legal situation with this is though. Am I allowed to record someone on their work premises? Will this potential evidence stand up in a tribunal (should it ever get that far)?

Basically, here's the score:

Dude's in his early thirties and has alcohol issues. Can't drive because he needs to prove to a judge that he's been sober for a few months, which he can't accomplish. His life is an utter mess and he knows it. No mates, no kids, his family just put up with him, you get the idea.

I'm two years younger than him, in the same company, same level, and I have none of these issues. It would *seem* like jealousy but I can't be sure. He's basically got it in for me and I don't know why. He's been here for 6 years or so, I've been here less than 2. He tries at every opportunity to make me look like a fool and like I don't know what I'm doing, which has worked once, but only because I did all the leg work before he got to the job (this was also the first time he tried, I've since learned my lesson).

Aggression issues, caught drinking at work, yelling and screaming at people, just a mentally unstable character, which I think is all attirbuted to his alcohol problem.

last week we had an issue which meant monitoring something every couple of hours. He didn't, and as such flooded the building. I arrived on site an hour early to find him asleep in the office, and due to the damage caused, I had to write a report, which I kept as clean and honest as possible. He's currently under investigation as a result but is trying to move the heat on to me.

I resolved the issue which caused the flood in the first place but a side effect was that unless certain systems were monitored, there is a chance that the building could run dry, although this is very unlikely.

Yesterday all was well, but today the place ran dry. I've got myself covered in terms of emails and instructions on how to keep things on a level, but I still laintain that he shut the water off intentionally to try and make me look like I messed up.

I've rectified the problem again, but I need to be able to record the place where all this is going down, so if he does it again I have it recorded.

I just need to know if this would be legal or not.

Be careful of doing this as many years ago someone where I worked 'accidentally' left a video camera on and recorded colleagues. Unfortunately I do not know what they recorded only there was some talk it was 'interesting' viewing. The person who was recorded found out and had the person who left the camera on was disciplined for recording people without their knowledge or consent.

Not long after there was an edict that anyone with recording equipment in their office, audio and/or video, had to put a notice on their office door stating that recording may be going on and visitors may be recorded accidentally. I think it was to cover the employer.

Probably not legal but on the basis you have proof of his actions he can't argue it/may even admit it without having to show the tape. If you're bosses know your issues could you ask them about it as they're the ones who could give permission.

Where on earth do you work where water running out is an issue?

It's a tank fed building. The tank is split into two sections, one of which is currently out of order, so we've only got half the buffer we usually do. The pumps which boost the water to the top floors suck water out of the tanks faster than the valves can fill it, and if the pumps run dry, they get airlocked and won't pump until they've been bled.

What this means is that the valve had been shut for a while, allowing the pumps to run dry and get airlocked, and the tanks on the roof of thew building have run out too. It is highly unlikely that the building consumed that much water all in such a short space of time, leading me to think that it was deliberate.

Yep, definitely find out if legal, could massively backfire on you, people(some) love to create a victim, especially by the sounds of this guy.

Or you can blackmail him it ;).

But on the serious side I can see the reason why you want to do this, but as mentioned above it could also get you in trouble as you'll be recording without consent.

The idea of adding more CCTV sounds like the best option.

I'm going down the stealth route. I won't use the recordings for official purposes but at least for my own sanity, to rule out the fact that I've actually messed up (which I seriously doubt).

If you want to be subtle you could download your companies t&c's or download the work act/rights t&c's (year) and print of a copy and leave it on his desk.

Record the footage, burn to disc, post it in to your boss anonymously - be tricky to prove it was you if there isn't already CCTV (assuming thats why you want your own cam)
