anyone know what this is ?

Reminds me of the fella who was on watchdog (or something similar) for installing burglar alarms, but put a timer device inside that fragged the alarm just after the warranty ran out, so he could charge for call-outs.

It could be a million things, look where the wires go, and maybe in the black box.

Why do you have it/why are you ****ing with it if you don't know what it is?

Looks like a DC Step Down unit with a Timer, will be for out door lights or some garden Water Feature/Sprinkler System/Greenhouse Mister thingamajigs (The fact thingamajigs has not sent my spell checker in to spasms has completely thrown me for some reason... :D).

Well the timer is just a DC delay on off thing and the large red and blue wires suggest a DC voltage that is being supplied because it feeds the timer directly, what looks like a grey input wire (sensor or switch) and a black output wire which looks like coaxial.
The box looks like it gets warm but not as warm as that thick DC cable would suggest, and the sticky pads would fall off too if it did.
The box is large enough for a circuit, but not something you would put an SCR in or anything like that.

Really it could be anything, need to know what is on the end of that black wire first.
