Hiya all was changing the airfilters in my girlfriends lupo to see if it would fix a revving problem on idle and found theres a split in this pipe any idea if its important connects onto the air intake pipes

no idea what the pipe is but if it is connected to the intake pipes then you have probably found the problem with the idle rev.

Ah better get it to the garage i guess as where it is will be a pain to get to temp bodged it with ..selotape only thing at hand lol

also noticed the car if your at idle and push the accelerator down instead of a nice Vroom you get a chug vrrr oo mm? :)

Get your missus to push the accelerator while its idling (out of gear and hanbrake on - obviously), see if it chugs. Then put your thumb over the split and try to hold it together and then get her to rev it. See what happens.

Sorry, but to me those pipes look like fuel pipes connecting at the fuel pressure regulator and the split pipe being the rubber hose cover that goes over the main pipes to protect them. Therefore nothing to worry about. Could be wrong though, and that doesn't explain the idle problem.

Right got that all duct taped off until i can get my bro to put a replacementpipe on.
While putting the airbox back on found yet another hole from a must be a breather pipe coming from bottom of the engine to the airbox the pipe tear was just near where the dipstick.

Dawm i though Volkswagens are ment to be bomb proof ..had less problems with a disastra!

Always good to state this when women are involved. Our admin woman wanted me to listen to a "funny noise" on her Saxo so I pop the bonnet and say start it up then leave it running. As I'm stood infront of the car she shouts over "in gear or out of gear?" "Errr.... lets try out of gear first shall we" :D
