Anyone know why my 970 caught fire?

Cheers, contacted Galax and their response was 'Haha your warranty expired two months ago'. Doesnt particularly make me want to buy their products again, but there you go. If you are in the business of graphics cards these days it's a happy time.

That is my interpretation. What they actually wrote is almost as funny. Two months out of warranty.

To understand the reason and provide an analysis, we cannot check it through email and need to collect the card for factory check.

However, your card was out of warranty long time ago, we cannot do that.

I gather the card is only just over two years old? I'll echo the suggestions on the first page though - complain to the retailer as it's not unreasonable to expect such an expensive item to last rather longer than just a bit over two years. Check out this article about consumer rights.
