Anyone know why our tapwater is cloudy and more importantly FIZZY??

I was just about to post and say thanks for clearing that up ocuk...then we filled the water jug and the water is now discoloured, a lovely light shade of brown!

Sounds to me like they've fixed a burst round your way and let some **** into the pipe.

I kid you not.. this happened where I used to work! Had to leave the tap running for a fair while :\

Sounds plausable that. Ill leave it till the morning and see what its like then for my morning brew. I wont be a happy chappy if i have to leave the house without a cuppa lol.

It's not about what they let into the pipe, water pipes (metal mostly) get a buildup inside over time (See here http://easternwaterconditioning.com/page7.html). Under normal operation pressure and flow isn't enough to disturb this, however if you get a burst in the network or they have to make some operational changes such as opening shut valves this additional pressure and flow can disturb it leading to the water coming out "broon". It is perfectly harmless as your water passes through it everyday.

We had water work in our street a while back and after they were done it did come out like rusty water but leaving it to run made it clear in minutes.

No idea on the fizzy side of things....
