Does anyone make their own pizza's from the dough up or get pre-done dough and just top it?

It sounds pretty straight forward but are there any pitfalls? You'd have to get the equivalent of a 'stone' to bake the pizza on but for the oven, what are these called?

I make pizzas all the time - no need for a stone, just whack em on the oven racks :)

Personal favorite:

Chicken
Pepper
Courgette
Beetroot
Pine nuts

Om nom!

much, much better with a pizza stone (weber barbecues (which can get hotter) do a nice one which is fantastic in their bbqs but also great in oven)

make your own dough it is easy and so much better - already typed up a recipe on here before (from Locatelli) you can search for it. It's in some random thread by Dmpoole, who was going on about pizza express;)

I used to work in a pizza shop - you won't need any fancy equipment - just make sure you put loads of flour on your dough before you place it on racks/pans... :)

I love making my own pizzas ^__^

I use Seasame Seed oil on the base, then tomatoes smushed after boiling them, loads of different cheese, olives, pepperoni/salami/smoked bacon

Mmmm ^_^

I can't cook anything outside of warming up a bowl of soup, but my wife does some excellent pizzas. Same sort of texture and taste as Pizza Hut but without the oil and other crap they add to theirs.

isn't the point of make your own that you can just use whatever you want and put on whatever you want ? ... id experiment and never mind stones just stick it in the oven so long as it cooks :D

You can, it just might not be edible! Much like the time I ran out of baking flour but wanted to make a cake so I substituted in yeast to make it rise. The results were not good.
