Sorry if it's been asked before, but I want to get Sky TV again and want to know how people find Sky Stream.

I had SkyHD then Sky Q for years and always love it, but the cost kept creeping up and up, till I was playing nearly £100 a month. My main requirement is Sky F1 in UHD. Unless there is a better/cheaper way to get it.

I moved to VM and didn't enjoy the experience, but I'm moving house so managed to leave without fees as VM isn't available at our new address.

What's the Sky Stream interface like? Why do I need to pay to skip ads?

Had it for over a year now and actually prefer it to Q. Interface pretty much the same as Q except there's no recordings as everything is streamed, so the initial setup takes about 30 minutes as you need to login to all the apps etc, but it gives a pretty seamless experience. Since the last update they've pretty much killed off the lag on the interface so no complaints now whatsoever.

Yes, as skipping costs extra but usually can get a deal so it's like £2.50 if you check the sky desk thread out.

Thanks, does sound like it could be worth trying out. Does the puck have an ethernet port on it?

I'm going to get 1 month Now TV to watch F1 for the rest of this season, it will be interesting to see how it fares.

Yeah, it has an ethernet port but obviously is also wireless. The box can do Dolby vision as well for the streaming apps etc.

Eliminated lag? I’m not so sure about that, its better but its still laggy and buggy.

What bugs or issues are you getting with lag. I haven't had any issues touch wood for months now. Prior to the last update I was having to reboot the device loads due to freezing / crashes, but since the update it's been flawless for me.

Lagging, random freezes, refusal to wake up from standby, tv fails to see it as an input yet works on multiple other devices.

The worst part there is no pattern to them. As I said I’m ditching it in favour of Apple TV and NOWtv.

When was the last update? Definitely found it flakey when setting up for my parents in early September, but they still seem to like it and coming from an old HD+ box the lag wasn't as noticeable to them.
Feels like they've got a fair bit to go to match the competition on this.
Main issue I had was it not remembering where I left off on some shows, and particularly across 2 different devices.

Interface wise I think it's overall better than the competition, but some behaviours are odd and inconsistent e.g. when finding a show on multiple platforms if you don't subscribe to 1 of them

All in if they fix the bugs, and improve how it searches & recommends then I'd consider it a step up on their satellite based systems.

I’ve ordered an Apple TV 4K and I’m going to get Now TV and give that a try, starting with 1 months of Sports to watch the last races of the F1 season. Then if I’m happy with it I’ll continue it long term, it’s much cheaper than a full Sky package and I don’t watch more live TV anyway.
