Anyone not else not using 3rd Party Anti-Virus / Firewall apps ?

I don't bother with software firewalls as they are pretty lame and a decent hacker can forge packets pass them with ease.

Hardware SPI firewall and Symantec Antivirus Corporate.v9.0.2.1000 Final.
Have never had a virus but have had hundreds detected and destroyed due too the doggyness of the sites I visit :p:p

I use Common Sense 1.0. It's free and comes with unlimited updates, and it doesn't slow your PC down at all!

I completely agree that this is a feature most users should have (but many don't), but are you concerned about visiting legitimate sites which may have been hacked?

Why? I've only ever had a virus once, when I was naive and used LimeWire, and that was just adware rather than anything malicious. So long as you use a browser with a good safety record (= not IE) and don't run random EXE files without checking where they came from, I think you should be fine.

In my experience of AVs, the situation is "free, light on resources, good detection rate: choose two". I'd really rather just browse sensibly.

I had a year's Kaspersky subscription (Uni practically made us use AV when we started, it was against network rules not to.) Admittedly it seemed like a pretty good app, but it never actually detected any viruses, so I decided it wasn't worth renewing it.
