Hi all,

My o2 contract is coming to an end and im looking for a sim only deal as im quite happy with my iphone 5s. Have been looking at 3 as they seem to have quite good deals and the coverage going by there checker in my area look quite good. Just wondered if anyone uses 3 on a sim only deal and how they find their service? I have looked at the carphone warehouse sim only network but not to sure about it to be honest.

Thanks all

agreed with Gigabit, check out coverage with a pay as you go sim, its the only way to really be sure on the coverage

I used them through Carphone Warehouse's network ID for a couple of weeks, but the 4G signal was absolutely atrocious in central London, so I reverted to EE.

Those coverage checkers are useless.

I'm sim only with them, but their rates have shot up substantially since I've been with them.

Their 'feel at home' thing is so incredibly useful if you travel.

Thanks guys, i have been looking at the 200 minute unlimited SMS 2gb data tariff which is £11 a month and only £8 for the first 3 months. Seems a great deal. Didnt realise about being able to use your minute allowance and data allowance abroad at no extra cost thats great! Has anyone used 3g data abroad with 3 and had any issues or charges on their bill? I was a bit unsure if there would be a connection charge as well for making calls to uk mobiles and landlines while abroad.

Like the fact voicemail comes out of your allowance as well as on previous sim only deals i was charged for listening to voicemails.

My dad's with 3 and came back from a holiday last week from Hong Kong, used his phone fine with no extra charges. The only issue he had was figuring out how to turn on data roaming on his iPhone :p.

Not in any place where it's been listed as being able to use your data. Just be wary near borders with countries where it's not a 'feel at home' place. This happens in the UK with people on other networks accessing a French network by the sea, so it's just a general problem.

Just remember that calling/texting non-UK numbers whilst in the country you're visiting will cost you, as it would if calling from when you're in the UK.

Actually, I see they charged me a small amount of data used when in France. I used a heck of a lot more than that, so it must have been something iffy going on with them.

Feel at home only applies to 16 odd countries but it works fine in them.

I had a text after I came back from two weeks in the US from 3 saying if I hadn't have had feel at home my data usage cost would have £1300

To be fair you behave differently if you know it is free - e.g. using Maps, Spotify etc

If Feel at home worked in Portugal, I'd be all over it. Until then I will stick with Vodafone.

How long will it last i wonder as the deal seems to be so good, they must be losing out on a lot of roaming charges as a network but i guess people on the network use it more purely because they can

Almost completely positive experience for me for about 3 years now. Only annoying thing is when they call to try and sell you contract for friends and family.

Only affordable choice for a long time if you want unlimited data. 4G speeds are pretty nippy now they've finally rolled out a bit more

Going to go with 3 for sure i think. Just need to decide whether to go for the 200 mins and 2gb data or 600 mins and 1gb data. Always only ever had 1gb and seemed to have served me well. Always nice to have more but just not to sure if 200 mins will be enough on that tarrif
