Anyone on the 3 network?

The coverage checker lies. Get a pay as you go SIM and test out the coverage in real life.

Yep been with them for many years. Good data speeds and 4g is no extra.
This and This. Been with them for years on a monthly deal that gets me 200mins and unlimited data for £12 (iirc). It's always been reliable and I've never been pestered about using too much data. Signal strength around London and the Midlands has never let me down.

Grab a monthly sim and see how it fares in your area.

I've been with Three for over a year now and have found their reception excellent even in the backend of beyond in northern Scotland! Certainly it's far better than O2 who I was with previously.

3 coverage has generally been fine for me. Only place I've really struggled with reception was a holiday in the lake district but they have an app that lets you call and text over wi-fi so even there it didn't restrict me much.

How long will it last i wonder as the deal seems to be so good, they must be losing out on a lot of roaming charges as a network but i guess people on the network use it more purely because they can

I imagine they're fine as they keep jacking their prices up. Just because one thing is free doesn't mean you don't pay for it one way or another, same when they added 4G at no extra charge.

I moved from EE to Three sim only. Coverage is ok, 4G is still very patchy but that's slowly improving with their roll it of "super voice" 800mhz 4G. Their 3G service is very good which makes up for the poor 4G. The perks keep me with them, namely their Feel At Home service which allows you to roam in a lot of countries with no roaming fees :). Overall I would recommend them.

Do any of the networks charge extra for 4G now? I've had 'free' 4G on O2 for about two years!

Three's 4G coverage is pretty patchy. EE's is much better, and anecdotally O2 seems to have got much better recently. If you can cope with that they're probably fine.

Been with them for at least 10 years now. At first reception was dodgy but now it's fine. I can't say the 4G speed is amazing, I get at least 10-15Mbps when downloading torrents most of the time, but I usually use wifi to download and 4G for browsing and streaming.

£14/m for unlimited everything (incl data) sim only, can't complain.

The Feel at Home is amazing though as I regularly visit the US, as well as other European countries. The speed is terrible, forget downloading, but it's enough for browsing and using Google Maps, which makes a BIG difference when abroad. Wish they would have it for every country!

There is a lot of mast maintenance going on around where i live. Two new masts due to go live within the next month or so, not to mention all masts covering the valley are being upgraded to 4G (1800 and 800).

I do pay a lot but i'm pleased with the service i've had, their customers services have improved a lot for me too.

I used them through Carphone Warehouse's network ID for a couple of weeks, but the 4G signal was absolutely atrocious in central London, so I reverted to EE.

I've been using Three for at least the last 3 years in London, and never had a problem anywhere... Has worked well pretty much across England for me, including some rural places in the South West.

Only complaint I have is that they didn't renew their 2G data deal with T-mobile/Orange, and so in some far-flung places in Scotland you 'roam' onto another network but can only call and text - which is a bit frustrating!

Was with three for 3 years, now moved to EE and I get 4g everywhere I go around Manchester,

Three used to be get 4g if i was lucky and I find indoor coverage better with EE

Paying £10 after cashback on a sim only deal, Unl / unl / 6gb data, also uses wifi calling which is awesome imo

Three is good for the feel at home but wasn't for me

It's swings and roundabouts. For coverage, EE are far superior but are not the cheapest. 3 coverage can be patchy but is cheap. I am on a roaming contract (voice) with EE and a data contract with 3 - the feel at home data is a con in that you cannot get full speed (like at home) no matter where you go. Italy is awful, Ireland is awful, France is worse than awful, but then I pay £11 a month for £15 and all I really do is browse forums so I can't complain too much. I would like to stream radio and the odd bit of video, but with three I have no chance.
If EE did data roaming included I would get rid of three immediately.

If you want cheapness, go for three but as mentioned get a payg sim and test, test test.

+1. I've had more problems with coverage with three than I have had with any other mobile phone network. That being said, I think they've improved over the past couple of years as I've had very little problems with reception recently. I've also found their 3G/ 4G speeds to be very good on the whole.

Overall, if you find that three do provide good coverage in your area, I would recommend them, as they do provide very good value for money imo.

If i set my phone to only connect to 800MHz on Three the speeds are always good. Probably cus i'm the only one on it here. :D

Speeds always around 15 - 20Mbps.
