Considering a return to biking, have always fancied a Buell but know relatively little about them. Didn't they fold? But they still have a showroom near me... Owned by Harley? Guessing parts are hard to come by. Any widespread issues?

I can't help but they had a bike which looked awesome, X9 or something like that.

XB9R/XB12R. An odd fusion of a small frame, short wheelbase and pretty aggressive geometry giving very fast steering, and a lazy, agricultural HD engine.

The 1125 had a much more modern and more powerful Rotax engine, but the styling wasn't as nice, especially the hideous fairing on the 1125R.

They all have rubber toothed belt drive, nice and quiet and no real maintenance required but it's not totally unknown for them to snap.

A guy in my motorcycle club has a Buell X9.

It's a... "characteristic" machine but he loves it to bits (sometimes literally :p).

He's also quicker than anyone else in the club around the mountains, even with a pillion ;)

Edit: He does have to carry a small pot of oil under his seat though!

Really liked Buells and the way they used to innovate (petrol in the frame, oil in swing arm) and that front disk is awesome. There's an HD garage round the corner from me and used to see Buells all the time.

However that was 10 years ago and I only ever see 2 now, and that's only because they attend the local bike night
