Anyone owned a Xedos 9 2.3 Miller SuperCharged?

Mad ain't it although that one has a knackered door and wing... either way though, if you could source a second hand door...

New stereo double din going in tomorrow... service, lowering springs lmfao... it's started lol

I found out what the flat spot was...found vacuum pipe off the bypass valve on super charger. On now reckon that'll be solved. The off side caliper sticking is a simple solution, piston is pitted but mechanic stripped it all down cleaned all the rust out and spot on now. It's in getting the cam belt replaced as it was 9 years old Lmfao. Will post some nice new pictures this weekend as I et it back Friday.

EDIT:

Looks like the one on eBay is being sold on quickly, at a postential profit, however, something not right me thinks. It was only sold on 13th August and it's back up for sale..

Hello all,

I’m the owner of the car on eBay :-) thought I would create an user account, login to reply to the above as much that was thought about this advert is wrong.

A little bit of background first. For years I’ve popped on to this site as I love reading the car / general discussions. So, when my Mrs 's car, a Mitsubishi Outlander, was coming to the end ( 130K on the clock and it required over £1K worth of repairs ) think I was going to swap it out for a cheap a Lexus type barge saw your topic about your new Mazda Xedos 2.3 and thought cool, I quite like that and went off to look for one. So, it was your purchase of your car that introduced me to this car ( your to blame  )

I brought this one off EBay, the one you mentioned, for £435. I had to go to Kent to collect, it was dirty, it was dented but it had 90% service history and I could see that underneath it was a lovely car. The plan was that I was going to give it to the wife to use as a baby wagon but first I wanted to make sure it was safe so had it mot'ed, which required four new tyres, some new suspension parts, and under sealed as there was a bit of rust on the underneath. My mechanic looked at the cambelt, and he showed me it, it looks new, the tensioner wheel things all look new too and as it’s a non interference engine reckon I should just leave it to 90K then get plugs, all belts etc done. If it does got, it won’t implode the engine so, cool.

I also had a number of the little dents removed, and the big one on the door pushed out as much as possible as the original owner was an old couple who clearly couldn’t see. However, the body work wasn’t a big issue to me, the kids would eventually knock the crap out of it and I just wanted to make sure the car was mechanically safe as my little kiddies would be transported around.

Anyway, I presented it to the wife ...................... she didn’t like it, in fact she called it an old man's car ! :-) ( 8loody women ) Shame, as the car is quiet, it's so smooth, its relatively fast and I love the super charger. I’ve never had a super charger before so this was one of the reasons why I brought it  ( I’m such a kid ). I love the noise, the surge, it’s really quite addictive.

So, the Mrs and I discussed it, she would have used it if I had told her too but I could see that I was in for a few months worth of " You are making me use that car..." and happy wife / happy life, so I just went out a brought a 06 plate Suzuki Vitara 5 door, 47K, etc.

This means I now have 5 cars. I have recently sold the outlander, and I now need to sell this as its now surplus to requirements. Don’t get me wrong, £875 isn’t a lot of cash to have in this car, I can use it for a year, and sell for £500 then, so cheap motoring but my drive is now packed with wagons, and the amount of car tax I’m paying  So, this is the reason why I’m selling.

You mentioned that you reckon there is something iffy / or wrong with it ? Nope, nothing at all. Just a case of a hubby trying to introduce his wife in to `Banganomics` and she not liking it ! 

I’m currently using it as a station car, as I work up in the City of London which means my car can sometimes been in the station for days. I’ve tried to sell it on eBay but good god the abuse I’m getting !  Amazing. I’m only trying to sell a car, not weapons to ISIS.

If it doesn’t sell, then cool. I will keep it. Sorn off some of my cars and just use this old bucket  .

So, that is the reason why I’m selling it, well trying to, but if not, then for the next year I will be Mazda Xedos 2.3 Milliners owner 

Hi Simon,
Cool, yeah, no worries, wasn't haviong a go, it's just unusual to get a car that's been bought and sold on so quickly and as I'm a fan of these cars, noticed it had gone back up.

Cool, hope you sell as it's a shame if not and I'm sure you will as it's got a lot of watchers on there. I was tempted by that one myself, but the dings put me off tbh, however yeah it looks sound, always hard though over internet.

hope it sells matey and hope someone gets use out of it, as if the engine is sound, only on 72.5k should last forever. Good luck matey... and no, my doors staying where it is hahaha.

Cheers guys. It was this thread that introduced me to these types of cars, this why I love this forum as some many different likes, interests. I didnt even know Mazda had a car with a super charger on it. Im more a Toyota / BMW man ( Ive got a M3 Evo / Twin Turbo supra ) so this is my first Mazda. I did a long search on it, read up on the 5th stroke and how these cars are painted on a craddle that is spun around to achieve a better paint job.

Have to say, it drives lovely. everything is electric, its totally a woof in sheeps clothing, which I quick like coming from the my m3 conv / supra which are cars everyone looks at.

The dents are a little off putting, jesus knows how bad the previous owner was at driving. In 26 years of driving, Ive never dented a car like this. I got a few dents out my self but removing inner arches, indicators and knocking them out. But, the main one on the door is better but it needs far more work. What is ironic, the day I brought the Suzuki Vitara, my daughter threw open the passenger rear door and it hit my drive wall, so I have a dent on that now ! :-) Kids !

Ive had several Xedos owners / club members email me on Ebay. Seems your car, and mine, are the last of the batch and this is the best colour combination. I would rather it sells to someone that loves these cars as Im a bit of car finnatic aswell so do appriecate these type of people love them better than normal joe public.

One thing that I have noticed, it isnt as good on fuel as the various writes make out :-) Im not sure if its because I cant stop accelerating just to hear the supercharger, or that as its so quiet Im going faster than I should, but it does drink fuel ! :-)

I've now recieved bids of 400, 450, 500, and the max being 725 but I wont let it go for less that 850. Its one hell of a lot of car for that, and part of me doesnt want it to sell. So, wife can see Im trying to sell it but not my fault no one is buying it :-) if you know what I mean.

Looking forward to seeing how your car looks with new wheels, so keep the thread updated.

Simon

ALso, did you get the LPG working ?? Ive had a couple of cars with a LPG conversion and once they go wrong the common fix seems to be to rip it out and put a new system in. However, fingers crossed you can get your one up and working.

I also noticed that you havent got reverse sensors ?? I seem to have them in mine but not sure if they were a standard option. Ive also got original Xedos Mats !

Superb least it's creeping up. I truley think these will be worth good cash soon. I've never bought a car as an investment but think this and if I get my tVR cerbera next at will appreciate. I believe after investigating that there are around 40 Miller's left on the road in UK. That's a serious niche market and the car looks lovely in the flesh. Think its one of those cars you have to appreciate cars to like... I.e the old school workmanship. You want to see the video how they designed and sprayed looks ace on the spindle being rotated. Imho it was the last of the over engineered jap cars (and Saab obviously) before they all got made out of cardboard and tin. The quality of modern cars is appalling. I shut the door on this xedos to a proper thump.

As for LPG, there's just a cracked pipe so hoping next Wednesday can get it priced up... Had it checked and hopefully that's all that's wrong. We will see.

As for fuel economy I believe I'll see around 25-27 and low23 if heavy footed. This crap about 30+... on a motorway at 75mph maybe but in the really world mid 20's I'll be happy as that, with Lpg working would give me high 40's for a V6 SUPERCHARGED WOULD BE ACE.

I'll post pictures of the updates and just had call of mechanic who does my RX8 engine and cam belt all done and sorted. Just needs the lowering springs and MOT and she's ready for the road. Can't wait to take her for a proper spin.

The question is what rubber. I'm thinking Conti Sport 5 or Pirelli P Zero and also not sure whether to go for 225/40/18 or 235/45/18 or 235/40/18... Suppose it depends how low the new springs take her. We shall see. The new rims are a 7.5j width tyre... Original being a 7j so thinking may as well go for a 235 give it a bit more grip.

Lexus are still overly engineered, but don't have the charisma or cool back story of these Mazda luxury series, they went bust making these cars, heavily invested and then it didn't work out for a few reasons. Impressive engineering ingenuity and ambition when you consider how small a company Mazda is, then Ford took over and rescued them but at the cost of quality.

Well, pick the Xedos 9 up tomorrow... Dwayne sent me a quick picture of her, not the best quality but you can see looking decent... can't wait to see in teh flesh and will post better piccies tomorrow.

So, in total, she's had the following:

1). New front and rear cross drilled and grooved discs
2). Full service, oils, filters etc
3). Cam Belt and tensioners replaced
4). New rims with Conti Sport Contact 5's all around
5). Nice new Sat Nav system in dash.

All ready to rumble. Done a few other bits and bobs, clear indicators etc... replaced reflectors with new ones that were supplied. Nice and fresh.

When you first mentioned changing the wheels I thought it was going to look absolutely awful but those are actually an improvement IMO, much more modern looking.

Someone on mx5nutz is hoping to put the big supercharger off one of these onto a mk1 MX5, should be pretty mad when finished :D

Great transformation, the wheels look really good.

Are you thinking of getting the car mapped at all? What sort of figures can you get these cars?

Cheers guys much appreciated. Was expectng a lot of haters tbh... I'm trying to just be tasteful with minor mods... and now finished and will leave alone. No point chaving it up, want it original, but the alloys were puny 17's and tbh on poor rubber so, now on 18's sits perfectly now adn can still go 4/5 up without rubbing etc.

Picked it up about an hour ago in my dinner hour and well happy with it. Handles nicely, goes strong.... will try and take a couple of pictures later after work, but the weather is appalling and it's dirty already.

EDIT: BTW, is it just me, or if you cover the first 1/3 of car say to the side indicators, does the rest of the car look Jaguar XJ like to you or is it just me?

Just you ---- Rover 75 - that is what they said mine always looked like - I do like that now - there are times when I wished I had kept mine but so much needed doing it was totally uneconomical
