Hi, just wondering if anyone plays football for a local club? I used to, and I have been considering doing so again, but I don't know where to begin, I had a look on my towns website but couldn't find anything.

So who do you play for and how old are you?

I know the football is over now, but are any of you still playing at all?

I played in various teams for 12 years till i was 28, my bad health and the fact that i am self employed and cant afford to carry the injuries i was getting have put a stop to it.

nope, stopped playing due to working at the weekend, have you tried your local pub/s or working mens clubs (they sometime have a team)

check out the local paper too for all the results and stuff (although it might be a bit difficult now the season has finished lol), as around your work colleagues or anyone else you can find. look at the lower amateur division too (below the conference and maybe unibond league) for teams close to you.

check out the bbc website for footy links in your area, i've just looked for mine (nottingham) and it has a list of youth football and stuff, the liklihood is that they'll have a men's team if they have u16 or u18.

Hi, could you kindly post a link to the section on the BBC website where I can search for clubs in my area. I can't find it anywhere. :o

Yes, i play for the local crucible. We were promoted this season as runners up, should have won it tho really. I also play powerleague sunday evening where we've won the league the last 2 times.

Don't any of your mates play for a team? i think that would be the best way to get back playing. Would be a bit wierd just joining a random club where you didn't even know anybody. Would be hard to settle in not knowing any1 there i imagine

Finished playing 6 years ago now due to snapping my leg and dislocating my ankle.

Best bet is either word of mouth or to look through the back of the local papers a month or so before the season restarts (usually starts first week in Sept.)

Other bet is to start playing 5-a-side as a few players play both formats and play 5-a-side to keep in shape over the summer.

Just finished playing for my local junior football club after 8 long years and we finally won something in the last year of tryin under 18's league champions :D. Website's here Link think there's a load of links for other nationwide leagues on that site but not sure if they're junior or not.

I play for a local team too.

What I'd do is find out what the local leagues are called and see if they have forums or websites. Often teams struggling for players will advertise on these pages.

My team came runners up in one cup, finished second in the league and against our most hated rivals won the last game of the season, our biggest cup final :)
