It seems to have taken off in a big way and gotta say I love this game. Just wondering how many peeps play and whether you stick to online or play home games/casinos etc. I started gettin hooked after being bought the WPT DVDs and thought how much more glamourous and interesting the yanks made it compared to Channel 4 and their "late night poker" efforts of recent years. What do you peeps think of it all?

I play at home with a few friends. We've been playing for around 10 years now on and off.To be honest though I prefer stud poker to hold 'em.

We each bring a certain amount to the table (whatever we agree on at the time) and play with that. It's a good night which my wife hates :D

ive been playing online for about 2 years now but only really been making money in the last 6 months. Im a uni student so decided last easter holidays that this time i wasnt going to get a job stacking shelfs at ASDA but was gonna play full time and see how i did. I did a lot better than i could have hoped and have bought myself a nice car + insurance with some of the money. This summer uni holiday ive not been playing half as much cause ive got a lot more going on and it does your head in if you play to much. I play between 2/4 and 5/10 cash games and a few big tournaments and managed to win a $12,000 Guaranteed tourney a few days ago.

I love Hold 'em. I play a couple of times a month with friends (5 or 6 handed, no money involved). There used to be a £1 buy in, but that only happened twice. I usually win, and come 2nd if i don't.

I also like 7 card stud and Omaha (both hi, and hi-lo varients) as well as pot limit hold 'em and play the play money "sit and go"s on PartyPoker.

I love poker, i watch it for hours a day on Sky, play online almost every day, and yet i still cannot bring myself to play for money.

No offence, but I really don't see the point of playing Hold'em tournaments with no buy-in. There just has to be something at stake. It really isn't that fun otherwise.

About 6 months ago I thought I disliked poker, until my friend to me into it. Since then we'd have home games with our mates every week and we both play online regularily.

I started out on Pacific Poker but have since moved to PokerStars. I personally think the latter is better. The interface is nicer, and I prefer the range of tournaments (I don't play cash games). The rebuy tournaments are fantastic.

Profit wise I'm doing well now after my first big win a couple of weeks ago. Managed to come 1st in a field of 1,945 to scoop a prize of $4,799, from only a $3 buy-in and $9 in rebuys. That was rather the sweet. Up about $1,200 on the regular tournaments too. So as a student, I recommend learning this game!

Couple of cool websites:
www.sharkscope.com (allows you to find a lot about how good your opponent is)
www.thepokerdb.com (database of big tournaments)

I hear that all the time. I think i lack the disregard for money that you need to gamble. I like having money. Even though i only earn about £12k a year, i've never been skint or in debt since i started work 12 years ago.
I keep saying i'm going to give myself $100 to play with, and if i lose that's it. If i win, then it's a bonus. I haven't got around to doing it yet.

On the subject of pokerstars, Pacaific Poket et al. Why does their software suck something aweful? Compared to Partypoker, it looks like you're running it on a computer from the 1980's.

Partypoker is hideous,as is coral. Same layout, and i just find it a sod navigating around, probably because i dont use it as often as others. I've given up with online poker now, it's just getting too big for its own good, too many idiot players out there. Unless i've got $10,000 to play $2/4 -> $5/$10 with, then i wont be playing for a while :)

Surely the large number of idiot players is a good thing? Easy money.

Incidentally, the best way to avoid them is to play in the lsightly more expensive tournaments - ones with a $10 buy-in are much more refined, with less morons. It does mean you have to work harder for your money though....

I don't mind working hard for my money, makes it all the more worthwhile! Theoretically, they should be easy money, but they just get so lucky against me and i'm sick of it. I'd rather play good players and earn my money than be lucked out of a game by a fish.

The 'idiot players' are essential for making a profit online. Sure they might get lucky against you every now and then, but in the long run, you will profit off them.

10 of us play once a month and have done since begining of last year!!

It's a chance for the lads to get together, get p*ssed and order curry and maybe win a few quidly :D

I have only won once (bout £120) but I like having a laugh and getting wasted whilst flinging poker eyes  at everyone.....lol

ALL IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
