I am wide awake, but I work a few nights a week at tesco (student dont worry:p). i worked thurs fri sat night, and sunday overtime 4-12 in order to get 2 time-and-a-half shifts in:D
I got up at 3:30pm sunday so unfortunately not tired yet, however the tesco night pay is absolutely awesome (for a student).

yeah i worked nights as a student too. definately good money, but really screws your system, i still works nights, i have to do 6 a month.

pulling late-nighters this last week, currently re-writing software to run on GPUs using CUDA - pita using beta/nascent tech. but the performance gains are massive.

best of luck with your presentation, and interrogation btw.

good money, but really screws your system,

I only work nights that are bunched together, and I go to bed at 3am and get up at 11am anyway, so nights arent a huge jump for me, however the money really is that good. From what I have earnt in 4 shifts this week works out at over 14k a year if I did this every week.

I get no help from the government with uni, so after 2 years I already owe 13k and would very much like to pay my fees up front this year.

cheers bud! will defo need it, all intensive care nurses need this course to get promoted, we are one of the very rare units still interviewing for the course most others just give it to those who are ready, but my managers are creating work for themselves and making themselves look busy.

I'd love to work at night but some retarded law here says 17 year old may not work longer than up to 10 or 11 pm or something, what idiot has thought that up I'd love to work from midnight to 3am or something like that, even if at Macdonalds or something I just don't want to work when I want to sleep am I'm tired ( during the morning and start of the afternoon).

anyways I regularly pull all nighters just because I can't be arsed to go to bed...
During my holidays, every 10 or 15 days, I usually skip one night/sleep...

Yeah i'm pulling an all nighter, getting reading for tomorrow night. I work a night shift through the week and need to get ready for it, although drinking lots before doesn't really help :P

hey rotters, my bro just graduated as an ODP, I remember him pulling an all nighter for a presentation on consent laws in the hospital veeery boring. He did speak highly of intensive care nursing, definately not a job a lot of nurses would want!

1 random question tho, why do u always sign off your post with your name? lol

I have an A4 sized front and back brochure for a client due at the printers later this morning, had the prototype ready to go since last week :(

habit. is all i can say, there are a few time i dont bother, but most of the time i do. not sure really, is it that annoying?

odp's are great if they stay nice and dont become lazy robots. i worked in anaesthetics prior to itu. itu is great, very technical, great autonomous responsabilites. tis easy to kill a patient tis very hard to keep them alive.

lol just something i noticed not really bothered by it altho i noticed u didnt sign off in your last post :p

I tried for a paramedic course this year but didnt get in probably cos my interview went dreadfully:rolleyes: not sure if i'll apply for it again next year but I am interested in woking in healthcare, i am looking at other options like engineering and so on but got a feeling i will probably go down the health care route. Any advice on whats a good job to aim for (as in what are there shortages in)? I am thinking of applying to radiography(diagnostic) next year

tis a bloomen hard course to complete. but there are posts. dont become a physio, my wife is a senior manager of the respiratory team, she gets 50-100 applications per job going. there are nursing jobs going now especially in theatres in and itu. for some reason its harder to recruit into. odp's are recruiting. paramedics do a great job, but you have to do a driving job first for a year just taking old dears to and from outpatients. if you have no formal medical training beforehand.

i love it though mate, i have a wicked sense of humour and my colleagues/patients/relatives love it. i like being straight forward with people.

shall i shant i, oh sod it

yeah i know someone whos doing physio degree, despite having 3 A's at a level she still got rejected until she sorta rung up the uni and said "wtf". For some reason its an incredibly popular course, I do fancy Pharmacy technician but theres not actually a course you can go for in uni which means you get qualified in it at the end of it, u have to apply for student jobs in the NHS but its really hard to get into without pharmacy experience, which again its hard to get any experience in. My bro sorta advised me to stay away from ODP and try physiology. Pretty much the only job i have not considered doing is Nursing lol!

you want a tough job and theres definately spec for a lot of money and a lot of repsonsability then i charge you with becoming as perfusionist. honestly look it up, they all start on band 8 a's in our trust which is 36k? ish but most end up in the low to mid 40k mark.

a very technical job, theres a degree you can do in it at uni, most go on to do their phd.

woke up at 5am, felt really hungry made myself some food, contemplating jumping in next to the lady and going back to sleep.

and also trying not to touch my bruise, what a pain!
