anyone remember that online gaming community barrysworld
Yeah...I still miss it :*(
Yeah, I used there servers for HLDM and TF back in the day.
Have a look at freddys house
Was that the place that let you rent TFC servers for free for like an hour at a time? If so, they were awesome, relied on them completely for clan practice sessions in the old days.
Spent far too much time playing Q2 on those servers....[BS]Witor.
Good times good times, along with the UKCCL, and SavageUK...
blimey - that is a blast from the past
used to play Quakeworld on Barrysworld servers, when they closed that was pretty much the end of the UK Quakeworld scene as far as I know.
My msn passport is still @barrysworld.com
I'll raise you.. who remembers wireplay?!
And I mean the old DOS client, not the windows one that came out about 1 year or so later.
What was the name of it before Barrysworld, was trying to remember the other day.
I was sure it was called something else, maybe beginning with C?
On the subject, whatever happened to the MGON network? Just seemed to disappear without a trace.
I remember GameSpy as a client before it became some huge gaming network too.
'Welcome to GameSpy'
GameSpy and BarrysWorld were my introduction to online gaming.
I mainly played on Wireplay thanks to a quirk in NTL's billing.
Our QW TF clan did occassionally slip onto Barrysworld for the odd clan much but the Barrysworld-centric clans were way too good for us. The Spice Girls spanked us about 12-0.
Barrysworld had good AQ2 servers as well.
I think I used to use mplayer too? I'm not sure of the name anymore..
Wireplay also rocked
Used to play on their CS servers and in their league before it went pay-to-play.
havnt heard that in about 5 years when i was playing CS
Is Clanbase still around? Used to play EU Q2 clans quite often in leagues, cant check whether its still alive at the moment (work filter)
Barrysworld was excellent - weeks and weeks of tribes playing. The current incarnation is the Freddyshouse forum. You can read why here.
I remember they used advertise in the back of PC mags.
Why do you ask? Is it making a comeback?
Separate names with a comma.
