I think those tape (DAT) drives were geared towards corporate use, for server/database backups. My old work had 10 tapes, 1 a day, for Monday to Friday of week 1, and again 1 a day for week 2, and they would alternate. Whichever tape set wasn't in use that week (1-5 or 6-10) would go to one of our houses as off-site backup.
Thread should be renamed to "Nostalgia Gadget Thread"!
My first MP3 player was a Creative MuVo2. It was pretty mediocre to be honest!

Hilarious thread
I knew about the calculator-watches, didn't know they could change TV channels too.
On a similar vein I guess, and being hard of hearing, I had these radio aids so that I could hear the teacher better. However, they had the same range as wifi so would work 1-2 rooms away no probs. Sometimes, the teacher would leave the classroom briefly with his microphone still on, and still in range. I would eavesdrop using my hearing aids and relay to the rest of the class what he was saying. It quite often involved swearing![]()

Good to know that I wasn't alone in doing this! Made for hilarious times when we heard staff going to talk to other teachers and ****** and blinding, not realising they hadn't turned off their mic. Best part was that my receiver had two aux jacks, so I usually got someone else plugged in too.
