Anyone replaced a shower pull cord switch?

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I need to replace mine tomorrow and I'm not sure which to buy. On Screwfix there is a 45A or 50A. How can I find out which is correct for my shower?

Thanks.

If in doubt get the 50A.
You can always check by looking at your fuse box. See what fuse is on the shower. Most likely it will be a 40A fuse but it might be 50A.

I ended up in same situation as you, could either be someone didn't tighten stuff properly, or someone is running over-rated shower for the cable (cause of mine).

If your shower has an "ECO" mode might be worth using that from now on, else you'll keep over-rating the cable and it'll burn more... in long run think about sorting it out as you are playing with fire. If you haven't got an ECO mode then it'll conk out again / trip breakers and could cause fire.

Presumably, you're only going to overload the cable if someone has installed an incorrect breaker? Otherwise, all that installing too higher capacity shower would do is trip the breaker.
