Anyone running an X1800XT/X1900XT in a SN25P? Which aftermarket cooler?

I'm new to the SFF world, I've got an SN25P arriving early next week and want to add my X1800XT and 4200 X2 to it, but still keep it relatively quiet.

The ATI stock cooler is pants, and I'd love to get something a bit quieter to keep it cool.

The AC Accelero doesn't fit without modding, so I'm thinking about the two Zalmans (VF700/900), has anyone tried this and is it possible?

Thanks guys :)

What ever cooler u whack on there id make sure it vents the heat outside of the case :)
*edit*
Dunno if this helps, think they all fit the x1800's aswell :)

I used to use a vf700 cu on an x800xt in my sn25p. It *just* fits, Fins were about a mil away from the drive cage. The ram sinks fitted fine on both sides too.

Score!

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear :D Was it upto the job cooling wise?

Thank you :)

It dropped the graphics temps loads, can't remember exactly how much though tbh. Just remember being suprised at the drop! I used the silent mode too so it wasn't even running at full speed.

You're a star mate, thats really helpful! Think I'll slap one of those on there and enjoy the peace and quiet :D

Think the VF-900 needs some modding to get it to fit, so its little brother will have to do :)

Sorry about the vague details I just built a full system with an x1900xt its made me all but forget that weedy x800xt ;).

Surely all the heat from the graphics card under load would cook the rest of the componets in such a small box  ?

Oooh I misread your post, I thought you said you had the VF-700 on an X1800XT and it fit. I wonder if the X800 and X1800 have there GPUs in the same place in relation to the slot etc...

Just be careful what PSU you have.

I ran an XT1800 and I started getting stability problems when under a lot of load. had to remove a HD and drop the clocks a little and it went away, so the PSU was stretched.

Switched back to a 7600GT and all is funky again.

I would deffinitly recoment venting the heat outside the case, or as an alternatiove swap the HSF fans around so they suck the cool ai from outside the case, made a massive difference for mine.

Would that matter? The gpu will still be the same distance away from the side of the case no matter where its plonked on the board. Unless you're implying you could snag the heatsink on the floor or roof of the case, or the HDD bay or something. I'm sure some filing will sort that out.

I'm really intrugued here because I have a Shuttle I wouldn't mind slapping a 1900xt on, but of course it has to have a slim cooler. Does the sn25p have more room between the pci-e slot and the side of the case than a G series case?

my sn25p is running 2x 36gb raptors 4800x2 and 2gb ram and a xt1900x and it fixs and its cool i play cod2 and bf maxed out and its super fans do spin up a bit but u dont notice it due to the sound in *** games.

I sold my X1800XT in the end and bought a 7900GTO when it was at its cheapest. Much quieter and cooler, and a nice performance boost too.

If that's the MSI 7900GTO, did you need to remove any of the drive cage or cabling by the PSU? As read a thread on another forum that wasn't clear if it fitted without needing to bend the card.

Its tight but you can squeeze the card in but no need for any mods (just have to take the drive cage out, fit the card and then replace the drive cage). There's a little pressure on the card, and you probably won't be able to het the screws in the PCI slot bracket, but it works a treat.
