Unpacked my Dell 2407 today after finally summing up some energy since returning from Wales only to discover this:

It appears to be some trim that has coome loose inside the monitor

Anyone seen anythign like that before? Anyone have any experience of dealin with Dell re: Warranty stuff? The monitor is just over 1 year old btw :)

If you bought it from Dell then you have half a chance, if you bought it from a resupplier then you're out of luck I would think.

I've just had a RIGHT nightmare (and still having it) with my defective 2407-HC and Dell. Monitor is just over a month old, OcUK don't want it back and have stopped responding and Dell say my contract is with OcUK so I'm stuck. Looks like i'll have to sell it on an auction site and loose some money. :(

Good luck with yours though. :D

Mint Sauce:

- Warranty : 4 year next business day exchange supplied by Manufacturer (Call Dell on 0870 9080800 and have the work number from the original packaging handy)

you should be going through Dell, but if they are refusing to talk then keep on at the supplier. If neither will talk and if you bought using a credit card start having words with the credit company to pull some strings.

So, what you are saying is that the warranty means nothing? For all its worth, it might as well not have even come with any warranty.

Depends whether the monitor was originally purchased direct from Dell or from a 3rd party reseller. If the original buyer bought it from a reseller then Dell might not deal with you and you would have to go through that reseller. You still have rights against whoever sold you the screen though, I'm assuming they said it was fully working and didn't describe the fault.

Nearly forgot :)

Rang up this morning went through a few detaisl etc and they are sending a courier to do an onsite replacement tomorrow :D

Back in your box :D

Right the new monitor is here :D

According to the menus it lists itself as a 2407WFP-HC yet on the back it suggests it is merely a 2407WFP.

Rev A00 leads me to believe the HC version more though. Manufaturer date of Aug 2007 :)

Will test for gaming/video watching and report back :D

Can see green ghosting/trails on pale grey forums (gets starred out on these forums....)

Video playback is fine.

Gaming is yet to be done. However it is a day off :>

Since they have replaced my monitor with a cheaper & somewhat inferior one would it be excessive to complain? :)

Maybe you could use it for a week or so and see if things improve. If not, then phone them up and explain the problem. They might send you out another monitor.
