Hi its not connected at all its a Asus eee pc 701b so its not connected untill driver install and i dont connect it untill ive got the anti-virus and firewall installed first and the windows xp cd i have a silver Ms one with SP2 all ready on it

The original Windows XP CD with SP2 is copper in colour, not silver, the silver XP CD is the original (first) XP CD which doesn't contain any service packs.

If you've already reformatted, then dont worry abotu this but as a useful hint to others:

You can cancel that shutdown sequence by going to Start -> Run and typing "shutdown -a" without the quotes.

Gives you time to scan for viruses or get the worm from your registry.
