When you say your running a smoothy off a pci card how does that work?

I had mine of an old intel P2 system and I was thinkin about getting one off ebay but before I did I thought I would see what thats all about :)

Cheers :)

Wouldnt say better- its a bit more of a jack-of-all-trades, with consequent tradeoffs in terms of firewall hardening and memory footprint.

Of course, I *did* run a CC box as my network gateway for about 2 years, before retiring it in favour of a Linksys router. I still had the CC box in a DMZ'ed part of my network because (at the time) it was the only firewall distro with easy-to-use and reliable bandwidth throttling capabilities

I used to use smoothwall, but switched to m0n0wall a couple of years back, it's bsd based but very very easy to use (all set up through a web front end) and very awesome, it's available from www.m0n0.ch
