Anyone still using very old Macbooks successfully?

With my 2010 white mac book it doesnt have full GPU acceleration and is a known thing so its not fully functional but for most things yeh its fine.
 
i forget if it was catalina but my 2008 unibody was fine and did have full gpu support and i had no problem playing 1080p, browsing, using gimp and other apps. for a 15 year old machine it is mental how good it is with an ssd even running at sata2 speeds and 8gb ram. but my weapon of choice is def the 2012 mid mbp and mac mini.
 
My wifes 2013 MBP is useless because I believe it throttles when the battery is knackered meaning it is stupidly slow. I could replace the battery but it's a not worth the hassle/cost.

Even when plugged in does it do this? Seems a bit of a weird thing to happen.
