Good evening all,

I'm thinking of getting one of these to house a new hdd setup consisting of 2x 36GB raptors (Raid 0), an 80GB hdd to backup the raptor raid onto and my current 160gb maxtor with all of my carp on.

I'm also thinking of getting one of these and getting another hdd to expand my current storage space.

Do the drives OcUK sell come with the caddy's in the images?

Edit: also, does anyone know where one can acquire additional caddy's as OcUK don't seem to sell them :(
Comments please :)

yeah Ive got a raidsonic backplane (which is basically the same company anyways)
Seems ok, the sata ports came off on one and it needed replacing (under warranty and useless glue used) They seem ok apart from that although the fan is very noisy and atleast on mine not easy to change out to a quieter one.

I got mine from a competing store so cant really say where I got it.

i use 2 of the 5 sata enclosures. I'd get the 5 in one not the 4 in 1 you linked to.
Because you'll gain an extra bay. the drives are mounted sideways though, not flat, but its no problem.

I have my 2 raptors in raid 0 for vista, and my 8 sata's in raid 5 for storage, all 10 fit quite nicely in the 2.

also, another good feature of these bays, is that you dont have to wire the activity lights from the raid card. As long as the drive is SATA II, disk activity signals are sent through that.

And yes, the caddies come with it. Just remove, install HDD, and plug back in !

they're absolutely fine, but I dont run a normal case. I have 7 120mm fans and 2 80mm fans, plus a 8800gtx on full speed, tunig tower fan also full.

I would say you wouldnt hear them, and if they were a problem you can disconnect and remove the whole fan assembly

As they're so tightly packed together would heat be a problem if u removed the fan? Also can you swap in your own (quieter) fan?

heat could be a problem, but the fan can be removed or replaced :
