The reviews online suggest they are quite good, UK based but sell imported lenses which doesn't concern me if I'm honest.

Specifically I'm after this which is the best price I can find.

I'd ask digitalrev for a price they are known and trusted and will probably be only a couple of quid more. Not saying your find is going to rip you off but it pays to be cautious with a large sum.

I've already had them quote me and they are way more expensive + I'd be risking import tax which would delay the order by quite a bit.

I'm pretty sure they already cover you for any import charges in the shipping cost:
http://www.digitalrev.com/help/import-handling-for-non-hong/MTQx

Their UK warranty deal is starting to make ordering a 5D mkiii from them a bit more appealing.

Well they quoted me £703 + import handling because they don't stock the Sony fit so they would have to order it in.

After checking more reviews they seem to be a reputable firm with decent service so I reckon I'll give it a go.

Digital Rev sell some of their stuff with VAT included and some without on ebay. In their shop VAT is covered in the price.

Procamerashop seems legit and I've seen them mentioned in other forums without problems. As you have said they are grey imports, Canon (and Nikon) fully warranty lenses, just check that Sony does the same (I would be surprised if they didn't)

I bought my 60D from procamerashop and had great customer service, quick delivery and when I asked them where the camera was from they didn't give me any BS and told me straight away. They also had a UK support line when I called them up and I bought my 60D around £300 under retail. Overall I am very happy I used them :)

Brilliant stuff, thanks for the post.

Now just gotta wait for my shares to be paid out later this week and I'll whack the order in with them.

Well the order has gone in today so I'll see how it goes. I spoke to a very friendly chap on the phone who didn't give me any **** and told me straight about the import policy.

I'll update once it arrives.!

Is it too late to cancel?

If so, for next time I use these people for both my 35 and 85G, no complaints...

Rollocks, yeah I'd say it is too late to cancel but I am in the market for another A77 so I might them a try them as with bank transfer its coming in at less than £700 which is plenty cheap.!

Thanks for the recommendation fella.

Hi guys, this is my 1st post & apologies for it being a bit long-winded.

I registered just to warn anyone thinking of using this company (pro......shop) to do their homework very well!

Before I start, I know there must be many happy customers & i'm not trying to start an argument, just to give you a few facts & hopefully negate potential problems. (overclockers is on the 1st google page when checking them out, hence the reason for registering after seeing this thread)

Be VERY careful with this company! They are NOT UK based as they lead you to believe, apart from a rented office & phone line in Carlisle, they are based in Kowloon.

They are not paying the same business taxes & VAT as most kosher suppliers are, hence the savings on cheap imports.
YOU are liable to pay the import duty & VAT to HMRC if your purchase is stopped. (you are legally the importer, they are only the supplier) which would more than negate any savings. The chances are slight (although they are starting to tighten up on this lost revenue & practice of labelling goods as lower value items & toys) but you need to be fully aware.
They even point out it is your responsibility, in capital letters, in their T&C's under `conditions of use`.

Most products are grey imports & contrary to what they say, their 1yr only warranty is just nowhere near as good as the manufacturers' own. Indeed some manufacturers won't even touch a product for warranty work if supplied via this (or any non EU) company. I've checked!
Any warranty work will be via their repairer, hence the missing warranty papers which really should be provided with all products.

Also check any purchases you receive, or have received from outside the EU with the manufacturer by trying to register it & see if they give it the all clear.

Some imports from Asia have had forged (not incorrect, but FORGED) serial numbers & also some products actually seem to be `used` & not brand new at all.

Do not be tempted to purchase by BT to save the odd couple of % & give up any legal protection, pay by credit card!

They also scour negative reviews on sites & threaten legal action if the post is not to their liking to get them removed, so i've kept this post to facts only & not posted specifics about my dealings with them in order to not give them reason to have it removed.

You really have to search fairly deep through many weeks/months of OTT reviews to find the issues from others, or ask on a specific site, eg for cameras go to a photography site.

A couple of so called independent review sites allow hundreds of `reviews` on them but don't insist on purchases, so imho, as well as fake reviews + removing many serious negative reviews, they shouldn't be taken too seriously.

BUYERS PLEASE BEWARE!.

Hope this post saves at least 1 more unhappy purchaser.

Thanks for reading.

To me, this is a red flag.

I am not a DigitalRev customer but I believe that their route is one of the cheapest ways to get camera gear, provided that you are willing to run the VAT gauntlet.

If your supplier makes them seem expensive, I would turn round and walk away. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is...

Exactly what I was thinking. I've seen a lot of dodgy comments about that company when I was looking around for my sigma 50mm a while ago.

Well I did order my A77 from them and my experience was the total opposite of Photopixels post.

1: I rung them and asked specifically about the grey import status. The guy openly said yes they import cameras adn so the manufacturers warranty was none existent.

2: I paid via bank transfer and had no issue.

3: My camera was delivered from within the UK so I can only presume it had already been imported when I ordered it.

4: Delivery took place within 48hrs.

5: I wouldn't use them again simply because Panam0z are cheaper.

6: Some light fingered mofo nicked all my gear on xmas eve including the A77 and 7 lenses so they aren't burglar proof...:(

Glad you had a trouble free experience, as do many others, but just wanted to hint at my experience with this lot & point out the pitfalls.

Sorry about your gear getting stolen. :(

Example of a review & reply that I wished I'd seen before; http://www.reviewcentre.com/Online-...a-Shop-www-procamerashop-co-uk-review_1727459

Another negative review (now removed. hmmm?); http://www.reviewcentre.com/Online-...a-Shop-www-procamerashop-co-uk-review_1738905

Legal threats: http://www.cameralabs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=30939
& `Talk photography` have deleted threads & posts after threats.

To me these tactics unfairly hide any issues that buyers have had & makes them seem a good UK kosher company to deal with for those that don't know the real issues & potential pitfalls.
