Anyone using a MikroTik hAP ac² ?

Anyone else been brave enough to try the HAP AC2 ?

There have been firmware updates so i wondered if it was still as bad as Caged experienced.

Brave? There is nothing fundamentally wrong with these routers other than MikroTik insist on writing their own drivers so you can't yet benefit from "real" AC Wave2 advantages.

They will perform as well as most other RouterOS devices do which is generally as far as routing goes, very good.

My previous offer stands - I’ll will happily lend you one to test.

It's not for me thanks WJA96 and if i remember correctly yours is the single core AC , i just wondered if they ever resolved the issues that were specific to this quad core model.

I have an AC2 I got in to test and it’s fine. It’s a bit like all Mikrotik stuff. It’s cheap, fundamentally works and if you stomach the incredibly steep learning curve, there’s almost nothing it can’t do. Mikrotik is primarily a software company (RouterOS) who make some pretty nice kit to run the software on.
If I was looking right now, I’d be looking at Audience, which is their UniFi Dream Machine competitor. Again, in its early stages of life, but a good unit, and there’s a 4G/LTE version coming very soon.

Apparently the hap ac2 has been discontinued but i can't find any info if there will be a replacement.

I'm surprised the Audience is still using the old IPQ4019 717MHz , you would have thought they would have gone for a more modern 1.2ghz ARM processor.
