I'm after a cheap offsite storage provider to backups my lossless audio and photo files. I know amazon do glacier which would be perfect for my needs but the QNAP I run has S3 backup built in.

Is anyone using it? I'm trying to get a rough idea of costings?

Hi

I've used it for years for basic storage of docs and some photos etc. My costs are minimal - around 20-30 cents a month for probably around 1/2 gig to a gig total stored. I think traffic to and from the servers is what they charge for mainly. Obviously scales on usage - pricing is here:

Glacier looks even better tho tbh if you're just using it as a data store, as I do. Might change :)

I use to use S3 for backups, costs about 1-2 dollars per month. My total storage is ~45GB today. S3 contains my documents and personal photo libraries.

You have to factor in that if you ever needed to download your data you'll incur extra costs.

At work we use Amazon S3 to backup our webteam media drive (synology ds412+). So far backed up around 2tb and it costs roughly £50 a month.
