Anyone using ShadowPlay? Tips for recording gameplay for youtube?

Not sure if anyone is doing this but I wanted to know if there was any way to reduce the file size of a recorded video.

I'm recording using 60 FPS, 40 Mbps, H.264 on ShadowPlay at 3440x1440 and a 38 minute video is about 8.5 GB which will take forever to upload on youtube.

Is there any sophisticated software out there that can compress the video but retain the quality? 3440x1440 @ 60 is a must at least. I have a feeling there isn't but can't hurt to ask for tips/advice.

Handbrake is pretty good at shrinking them down without sacrificing much quality.
Been a while since I've used it, so can't offer any real tips, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the replies.

The tricky part is compressing without reducing resolution and framerate. I've noticed Gregster uses 1440p/60 FPS so I'm interested in what he's doing. :)

I use Sony Vegas and have a 20MB upload speed, so I don't worry how big the files are in truth. Handbrake is what I used to use though prior to my fast upload speed. Great little program .

Any tips on what settings I should apply in handbrake?

And to be fair I have 10MB upload so uploading to youtube won't take thaaaat long... maybe I'm being a bit greedy. :p

I only use Shadowplay to record now, it's great. Though I've been having black-screen lockups a couple times a week if I hit the shadow record button (save the last 5 minutes). I think it's an issue with Windows 10 and the latest driver.

In terms of rendering, I use Vegas Pro, but only because I do little edits too here and there. If I were just uploading somewhat raw content then I would use Handbrake.

I only have 1Mbps upload speed though, so I move the file to my phone and then use 4G :D

I used the default settings on handbrake and it reduced the file size to 3.2 GB from 8.5 which is great.

Although with the time it took to encode the video I'll probably upload straight to youtube from ShadowPlay from now on.

I don't know that much about it myself, but these settings are what I'm using at the moment :

A 10.3gb video, so I expect it'll be around 2 - 3gb once compression has finished. I'm only using a basic editor (Windows Movie Maker), so the rendering options are limited, MP4 or WMV. I select the latter then compress to MKV - which I understand is better still.

Pretty much the same as the default settings I used except I was using 'faster' instead of 'medium' which explains why you're getting a relatively smaller file size.

I find even medium takes longer than I would like, so I've just set it to 'fast' and adjusted the number on the quality slider. Hit and hope. :)

It certainly makes the cpu break into a sweat.
