Ok, so I had a Denon 3200W since 2015 and was always pretty happy with the sound.
My speakers are as follows:
Q Acoustics 3050 Front Left/Right
Q Acoustics 3090 Centre
Q Acoustics 3010 Rears
SVS PC2000 Subwoofer
PSB Imagine XA Dolby Atmos 'upfiring' speakers.
The 4700H chassis is the same as my 3200W, the main difference between the two (in terms of sound quality) is that the 4700H has Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 and also AL32 processing.
The MultiEQ XT32 is so much better than the old Audyssey XT version I had, and I've paid £20 extra for the Multi EQ app which lets me tinker with it more.
Stereo music sounds so much better on the 4700H, even through Spotify. It's excellent now.
In terms of surround sound quality - Initially I used Dynamic EQ, and the first movie I ended up watching was 'The Incredible Hulk' on 4K Blu-ray which has a DTS:X track (My wife and I are working our way through all the marvel movies)
It sounded great to me, my rear surrounds seemed to be doing more and I almost thought they might be too loud, but it didn't appear to be drowning out the front stage at all and dialogue was all pretty clear so i'd say the sound field was better. And the bass seemed good and not localised to one specific area - which I guess is the point.
However, when my wife was in bed and I was trying to play some PC games, Dynamic EQ seemed to mess about with the sound levels too much. I was Playing Hitman 2 at Absolute volume of 45, which is fairly low and panning the camera around you would end up with some sounds blaring out of the surrounds and not being able to hear the fronts....and a wife complaining it was too loud whilst she was trying to sleep. So I turned that off eventually.
In terms of heat, not noticed any issue and my AVR's are wedged in quite a small space in my Sonos TV cabinet (see image below of my older AVR setup)
And it worked flawlessly like that for nearly 5 years before I recently sold it.
