Feel free to call me an idiot. I was stopping at a hotel a few nights back, foolishly i left my Pda holder mount to the windscreen, i removed the pda mount and pda and dropped it into the boot.

Lo and behold morning arrives and i have no front passengers window, and my car has been thoroughly violated, all me stuff has gone out the boot (inc my logitech dinovo keyboard set and 200 blank cd's).

Unfortunately my company car insurance doesnt cover me for any personal effects, tahnkfully my laptop was with me in the hotel.

So my plan is to get a Tomtom mobile instead, that way i wont have any tell tale mounts etc to worry about, so basically im wondering if anyone uses tomtom mobile, how does it compare to the pda version, im planning to get either the Nokia n70 or 80 to use it on.

Any opinions welcomed!

I have both, and tomtom mobile is every bit as good, does everything the normal one does.

Don;t go for the N70 as it's bluetooth support is **** and causes no end of problems, dunno what the n80 is like but it HAS to be better than the n70.

My C500 Smartphone has TomTom and it works fine.

But I'm looking to get a PDA soon as it needs a touch screen really, its a pain entering details with a mobile.

Im looking for a phone really, i have gone back to a paper based organiser.

So what phones would be good, i see the sony p910`s are reasonably priced now, looking for something reasonably compact ala my w800i.

6600 here with tomtom, i've tried every variant of tomtom now and i would say the worst was the PDA, i find that even the 6600 can deal with tomtom just fine, and bluetooth links etc are no problem. Never drops satellites and seems to get me where i need to be rather nicely.

Plus you can chuck it in your pocket and the bluetooth GPS recievers are tiny now, also a phone holder that clips onto the heater grill pops off in a second.

4TW tbh, less bulky than tomtom units, more reliable than the PDA version.

im also looking into this at the moment, how much did you guys pay for the bluetooth gps aerials?

£45 from a egay, software was free, phone was about £65, pretty cheap all in all :P.

XDA IIs + TomTom and it works great and so flexable too. You can take it away with you and use it as a phone and/or PDA. TomTom is no less functional than a proper TT1 or the likes.

They also aren't as big as you expect, but if you are worried about size the XDA Compact is smaller :)

If your current mobile has a very small screen I would think twice. Although you don't need a massive screen to use TT it probably makes it quite frustrating.

you could get an orange spv or an o2 xda, they do reasonably small ones, no worse than the se p910. then you could use full tomtom. I had a p910, they are a bit long in the tooth now.

I have a 6630 with tomtom and it works great, only downside is eats the battery but lasts long enough to get where ever, or use the cit charger (I hate wires)

And of course speaker is a bit weak.

All in all prefer it to my old Go300.

now this is going to sound really soft, ive just borrowed my mates tom tom to navigate me to the Men arena in manchester later on tonight.

Now it doesnt seem to want to let me enter any postcodes, im a touch confused. Any ideas?

Tips please :D

What does it say when you try to enter a postcode?

Have you tried restarting the device? Sometimes mine does odd things like forgetting that anywhere except my house exists; restarting normally sorts it out.

its ok when i put the m3 part in, it picks up manchester but then doesnt find the rest of the postcode.

Edit: Forget it, i am officially stupid. Ive got it now...doh!
