Anyone using Wegovy/Ozempic/Mounjaro

I can only comment on my own XP.

I started at 119kg. I was a sugar addict and i used to eat when stressed and bored. I have had to cut a lot out. Hardly any fizzy drinks, little to no sweets/sugar, takeaways etc. I work with people who have seen my transformation and decided to try it. But then they continue to eat take out every night and drink litres of fizzy sugary drinks and wonder why they dont see the change i have.

I found mountain biking again. I am not a fan of the gym or repetitive exercise. So this has been my goto. I have gone over the top with it. I have 3 bikes and have probably spent £20k on them combined. I even bought a van to carry my bikes in. But it has worked for me.

As of this week i am 76kg. Thats 43kg lost. Almost 7 stone. I am healthy again and able to enjoy myself/not be in pain from weight related issues or suffering from mental health issues because of worry/anxiety/depression etc.

I am no adonis but im not fussed about how i look naked that's not why i did it. Hopefully i will stay healthy enough to see my daughter grow up. That was my motivation.

be at peace with yourself and work out what you want from it instead of arguing with the inner turmoil of what others will think.

I threw myself down mountains in north wales on my mountain bike yesterday. The week before i climbed Snowdon on my bike (it was an electric assisted bike).

I could not have done this before, i enjoy it and its exercise I feel that has been my key thing to burning calories. If someone wants to tell me I am a cheat then that's up to them. I will wish them a good day and not think of it again.

I didn't see it as a rant, wise words and it helps.

My motivation is health and seeing my kids grow up. Stress in the work place and self induced pressure has contributed significantly to my weight gain and also led to Hypertension. So it was time to move my fat ass and do something about it.

Awesome results by the way!

My best mate has dropped from 135kg to around 100kg on ozempic which is great. However, hes not learned to change his eating habits. He's come off for a couple of months so he can "binge and booze" for the summer then intends to start back in September. Any thing that helps him lose weight is good cos he really struggles but I do feel like the mind set change doesn't come with it like it would if your really had to work hard to drop the weigh, I feel like his relationship with food and drink is almost worse now.

Yeah that sounds bad.

I don’t know if there’s studies into it. But regardless of the drugs I assume putting on a lot of weight and losing a lot in cycles is not good for your health?

Good on you mate, this is an incredible transformation! I was overweight once, 105kg my heaviest eating takeouts, chocolate etc. Then I made a decision - enough of this, I need to get stronger and in shape! Havent looked back since. Lost 25kg in about 3 months just with a bit of consistent exercise and cutting calories. This was over 10 years ago now. If these new drugs were available then I doubt I would have used them without giving it a go myself!

The natural way is always the best way, but of coarse its a lot harder. For those people that can do it that way its great! For those who need a bit of boost, these drugs are excellent. But I hope they also incorporate some form of exercise, get the body moving, to get truly healthy!

Its not good for your health with or without the injections.
Couldn't agree more, in my mate it's almost encouraged this more than ever, like there's no longer a consequence to smashing as much food as he likes for a few months because the drugs will work thier magic and fix him three months later, only to do the same over Christmas !

I'm not sure why people need to spend on Mounjaro AND Huel; save some pennies on the latter. Your appetite will dictate anyway, and you will naturally just eat what you have in the house. I have had no sweet tooth for weeks now, and I have the usual lunches and teas with the family, at a reduced size, with no snacking in between.
I picked Huel for the good nutritional content in a format I don't have to plan/think about. My medication can mess with my appetite for eating a full meal, so instead of getting sufficient calories from bad sources (high sugar cereal/snacks, etc), I'm getting them from a balanced, trackable source.

I know the nutritional contents of a single Huel shake, to the microgram. If I know I'm going to be using my wheelchair all day, I can increase my calorie intake without relying on "bad" sources.

It works for me and my variable lifestyle - obviously the trade-off is the expense, but I'm happy to pay for the convenience.

This is why I'm pairing up using Mounjaro with a professional PT who knows nutrition science and who also understands mental health. I get about the same amount of benefits from the physical training I do with him, as I do our 1:1 chats about food, mental health and how to actually live like an adult, and not a child.

Whilst the medication is giving me breathing space from the food noise, my PT has changed how I think about and view myself a decent, good looking guy, strong with self-worth and a future - and people like this don't get up at 2am to drive to the shops to buy mars bars (which is what I used to do).

For me the key to staying on the rails after Mounjaro, is to have self worth and self value - for me, I think that's the key to keeping on the rails when I stop the injections.

Without that - I know i'll go back to old habits.

I agree this is a potential concern.... a bit like some people use nicotine gum/patches and then still smoke as well

as with everything these things are all great so long as used properly and sensibly
Some really good weight losses in this thread. I am doing my last ditch effort to lose it without using the meds... not because I am against them but they are so damn expensive.

my friend is using them. she has lost over 3 stone and swears by it (I can't remember which brand). In the same time I am down 2.5 stone so not quite as much... but am about £800 better off :D

I will say tho she still gets to have a social life. she goes out drinking and for meals but simply stops after a sensible amount. I can't do that. I know if I go out for a meal I will go to pot so it's something I have to factor in a month in advance and earn it as I do not have the will power ....

I know she has expressed a concern about how to come off them tho. she has been told if need be she can stay on them on and off indefinitely.... I am no tinfoil hatter but the pharma companies will be loving that!
before I started losing weight I asked the doc about it and it's the only time in my life I have been told I am not fat enough (and also no comorbidities) to qualify for them on the NHS. I get it. at those prices the NHS could be bankrupted worse than it is!.

so 1 more go the old fashioned way. 2.5 stone down. 4.5 to go :(

I've had one of the reported but undocumented side effects of MJ...

I've had some seriously vivid and bizarre dreams. I don't mind, they're quite entertaining and they haven't disturbed my sleep quality :D

I rarely dream (that i am aware of), but woke up this morning remembering my dream. Samuel L Jackson was a crime boss and dressed in full on Jules outfit - he was called Mr Minshu (wtf?).

He wanted to recruit me and the dream was a convo between him and I and him showing me around his warehouse full of jacked cars and stacks of cash.

Bwhahahaha!

Sounds like you're smashing it! I think it probably feels better when you've earned it, and as you're alluding to, it helps embed healthy eating practices
i would never say it isnt earned however its done (well ok maybe if you go private and get lipo it is cheating a bit ;) )..... (and if i came across like that it was not my intention) but yes, perhaps doing it this way does force you to look long and hard at your diet.... i hope it sticks.... i am optimistic right now however given how many times i have tried and failed - or succeeded then blown it afterwards.............. i suspect the bookies odds would not be in my favour.

i know fit and healthy people generally would not agree with this.... but imo it is like an addiction. Regardless of whether i am obese, overweight or a healthy weight the reality is i will always have a weight problem and a propensity to over indulge.

My trick is to factor this in and use a night out as a carrot and make damn sure i am careful the weeks before and the weeks after..... combined with trying to do some physical activity to burn some of it off.

You say that, but 2.5 stone is loads of weight! You're 35% of the way to your goal

The whole "fashionable" diets like IF, Carb cutting etc I dont get.

Want to lose weight = burn more calories than you consume irrespective of the type of food you eat.
Not all calories have the same effect on the body though.

If you eat refined carbs, that spikes blood glucose, which releases insulin, which is your body's signal to store fat. Also you'll get a carb crash, making you want to eat more.
If you eat a protein and veg heavy meal, you won't get the above, or at the very least a much smoother blood glucose rise.

That's the point of keto and diets like that. Change the macro's so your body responds differently to what it's been given.

I am thinking about adding some Flack Seeds and Whey protein Powder into my porridge in the morning. Has anyone tried the Warrior Range of Whey Protein Powders in porridge rather than as a drink?

Just ordered a cheap set of weights from Argos to do a bit strength training or to add some resistance to the muscles while i am on the treadmill.

Don't know about the warrior range specifically but routinely use MyProtein Impact whey protein powder mixed into various things - porridge, smoothies etc.
