Anyone using Wegovy?

Today I took my second 5mg dose. Mounjaro so far is having zero effect on me. I saw the go for an unrelated problem and mentioned it and asked if she can change my repeat to 7.5mg for next time. She said 7.5mg is quite a high dose? She has asked me to do a food diary so she can see if it's what I'm eating or to go up in dose. She doesn't seem too keen on moving me up higher and keeps saying it can cause gallstones which I know about. I'm not sure why she says 7.5mg is a high dose when it goes up to 15mg. I think after a year and a half on Ozempic has made my body used to it.

Are you diabetic or just want to lose weight?
I had my first 10mg on Sunday and had the runs a few times however my bloods are bang in target for the first time in 17 years.

Haha I'm getting the runs now that the 15mg has properly kicked in. Gonna give it a few more days and then dial the doses back down to 10/12.5mg.
Will just microdose the 15mg pens to save a bunch of £££

I'm diabetic. I was put on Ozempic originally because of that. I lost 2 stone but after around a year I stopped losing and eventually put back on a stone even though I was still on 1mg Ozempic. My blood glucose and blood pressure started to go up again so I asked the gp to move me onto mounjaro.

I was on Semaglutide for 4 months and both my HbA1c and daily bloody sugars went up, the Diabetes Nurse had never seen it before.
7.5mg and now 10mg Mounjaro are working brilliantly but I've lost no weight but my body shape has changed.
I've just got in a band t- shirt I've never been able to wear for 2 years but no weight loss.

If anything I'd say I feel bloated around the stomach

Well the gp won't play ball. Because my bloods are ok she won't put me up any higher than 5mg. It's doing nothing for me so to me there's no point taking it. The main reason for me needing to lose more weight is I'm due to see a consultant at Kings in sept about an ablation to stop my Atrial fibrillation but he likes you to be under 109kg. At my lowest I got to 103kg. I'm now at 108kg and bmi of 34. I really don't understand why she won't let me go higher. I'm now thinking of buying the extra online. As I understand it mounjaro doesn't cause your hbc1 to go lower the higher dose you go but just helps your body regulate insulin release. Or am I wrong?

HbA1C is a marker of long term blood glucose levels.

Mounjaro does not affect blood glucose or insulin directly. Indirectly, by reducing amount of food you eat.
If higher dose of mounjaro makes you eat less sugar and carbs, the average blood glucose will be lower and insulin will not spike as high.
I think it takes weeks or months for HbA1C to change meaningfully. But health benefits of better glucose control are almost immediate.

And same can be achieved by literally reducing amount of sugar and carbs you eat. Control carbs, eat more protein, don't fear fat.

Mounjaro and Ozempic directly affect your HbA1C due to the GLP1 glucagon-like peptide 1. It enhances insulin secretion while inhibiting glucagon secretion. It essentially acts as a hormone to get the pancreas to release insulin when required. it also works on the liver by reducing the glucose the liver produces and slows down digestion, leading to a delayed absorption of glucose from meals. All of these would cause you to have a lower glucose level and as such affects the HbA1C.

With Mounjaro it also includes GIP Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide this is also a hormone that enhances insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. It also influences appetite and food intake. Hence it being more affective than ozempic in most cases.

Congrats. However I've tried low carb before and while I did ok I found it too restrictive. I mean most of our staple foods are carb heavy. Bread, rice, pasta, potatoes ect
Yeh I've had to change my diet a lot, thankfully I like eggs, nuts, lean meat, cheese, etc, and I'm drinking loads of water, tea, etc. I'm still having on average 2 pieces of wholemeal lower carbs bread per day for scrambled eggs on toast. I like low carbs, for me it allows me to diet without the hunger pangs being as bad as when on a typical low cal diet. I don't like the initial thirst and constant pee-ing though. Good luck in your diet journey whichever route you take :)

Who has completed their use of mounjaro? I am looking at coming off it now and wondering the best way to do it to avoid my system going to **** (literally).

I worked up to 15mg over 9 months. I have lost 26kg and probably aiming for another 4. Gone from 38" waist to 32". I'm also now more clued up on what size meals are right for me, so even when I stop and appetite comes back I know how much food I need to wait and top up the rest of my "hunger" with water, so hopefully not put it back on again.

If anyone has come off it, have you tapered down the dose level? I have heard cold turkey can result in unpleasent digestive symptoms.

I've had diarrhoea with 15mg when I started it a few weeks ago. Dialled it down and worked it up slowly by microdosing (12.5 -> 13.75 -> 13.75) and now back at 15 without any side effects

Around 8 months in now
Starting weight 97kg
Current weight 77kg

Amazing. Is it just for weight loss? If so, do you want to come off when you hit a healthy BMI (if you haven't already) and what's your strategy?

Just for weight loss
I'm at a BMI of 24.9 now, which is still overweight for asians
No idea about coming off it yet, in theory MJ should've been an adjunct to habitual change, but I neglected the habit portion of it lol
Once at target weight, I may drop it down to 12.5 or 10mg in the future and see if the weight stabilises on that before making a decision

currently enjoying fitting in clothes i bought in the noughties :D

That really is brilliant, congrats again. My wife is doing MJ and she does feel like it's helping her to learn *some* parts of healthy habits - like what is a good portion size for her.

Thank you :)

Yes definitely, I think what is most noticeable for me is that I've nearly stopped snacking between mealtimes
Once the pounds are shed the most noticeable thing at least for me (might be worth asking your wife, or if you notice it yourself) is that sleep is a heck of a load better with less OSA type symptoms, and hence better energy during the daytime

I'm down 10 kilos on Ozempic it's helped my blood sugars come back down from 90 to 70 and falling every week. I was 48 before my Victoza stopped so hoping to get back to it. Been doing lots of walking. Going to start weights soon but got to take things as have a heart issue awaiting surgery.

Only on 0.5 so scope to increase significantly. Happy with it so far. Will look at Mounjaro if it ever gets approved in my healthboard in Scotland they always take ages.
