Anyone want to do some windows live achievement boosting?

"I have got all the achievements on fallout 3 (thanks to the built in addachievement command in the console"

HAHAHAHA:D wtf is the point in doing that:rolleyes:

Don't get those who whore achievements and the points that go with them. So you've got an arbitrary number that's larger than someone else...good for you  TBH they just seem to be like a gaming fad.

The only ones i actively seek out are those that really add to a game experience (insane difficulty, extra hard bosses, doing something that is a genuine challenge etc). Not because i care about points but because its fun to do, and as a previous poster said they're a byproduct of playing the game. There really are some pointless ones that people actively try to get though.

Like some of the 360 ones, walk a certain distance in the game world, play an insane number of game hours, use all the weapons so many times. Why, they just seem so pointless in the grand scheme of things.

I used to live with a guy at uni who bought the really crappy games with easy points meant for supremely casual gamers or children just to have a higher number than his mate. Petty doesn't begin to describe it.

Sorry, rant over, but pointless achievement whoring (and the points that can go with them) make me rage. :p

Battlefield games for the medals! When they consist of thousands of hours of gameplay, and actually help your playing the games, then its all well and good. Its even better when you know someone on the other team, can see people stat whoring, and you talk them in over teamspeak in the attack chopper . . . . . :D

Plan to get a whole load of windows live enabled games later this week as want to boost my old gamerscore.

I have got all the achievements on fallout 3 (thanks to the built in addachievement command in the console :D)

I have Street fighter iv if anyone want to help get some online achievements on that (100 wins for example)

Will be getting Shadowrun, kane&lynch, halo 2,warhammer dawn of war 2+exp,universe at war plus maybe a few others later.

Also need to get some achievements for the Game room

Anyway my gamertag is Shenjoo if anyone interested.
Post here you will get a more educated response on the offical GFWL forums. http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/

But cheating in Fallout 3 is lame as you have denied yourself a lot of gameplay elements you only ever see whilst going for all achievements

I'm not interested in achievements but I like TF2's method of unlocking weapons through achievements, although some of them could only be gained through staging *grumble*.

I like the idea that a game can record that you did something crazy/mad/cool or acting as a indicator of a bar to reach in your playskill. As a goal in itself - who cares/

achievements make perfect sense when used how they should be. they don't make sense when people feel the need to boat about them and when they're used as anything other then a different way to play a game.

i used to play bf2142 a lot and was really getting border of doing the same thing over and over, but then i realise the achievements thing and it gave me a new way to play, e.g. kill 20 guys to 1 death etc. i never would post them online as that's just stupid

lol, i've said it before, achievements are just pathetic and people that think they are better for having a high score even worse.

The main issue with achievements and the chasers are, I've played a few games on my brothers PS3, getting an achievement, for watching an opening cutscene, or starting to play, or playing the first 10 minutes of a game, its truly embarassingly stupid.

It's truly a reflection of how bad a game is when you get an achievement for sticking with it for 10 minutes :D

I despise this entire achievement / unlock thing that games do now. What's the point in giving me an achievement for doing what I'm suppose to? Gee, I completed the first mission I'm so awesome! Hell StarCraft 2 has an achievement for adding someone to the friends list!

I don't see what was wrong with playing games for fun, although it seems rare for people to do that now. It's mostly about e-peen.

Even though i totally agree about the e-peen revolution in regards to players. From the developers point of view, allot of the achievements are there to give incentives to keep people playing.

It's sad and pretty low but achievements like in Gears of War for playing a set amount of matches only ensure that their games get played. The more popular they are, the better it is for them.

I do think achievements should be relegated to those that are a genuine feat of skill to achieve tbh.

Do agree with this, or at least it should be something fairly challenging. Sending the gnome to space in HL2E2 comes immediately to mind...

Pff, these days they use achievements to encourage people to buy it, not to keep em playing. Most devs don't give a damn once they've bought the initial game, as seen by the insane number of 'completion' achievements. Fair enough achievements are a simple way of keeping track of how far through the game people got after buying it, but when the list is dominated by them... or kill x enemies with y weapon type things, its useless.

*shakes fist at the gnome in Episode 2*
