We used to use GTX gaming.... not bad service and servers. However dont expect to be able to put any ranked servers on.
You wont have any EA ranked servers, no MoH servers nothing.

Yeah but what this means is... you can still have MoH servers but they wont be ranked.
I spoke to Tim on a few occations its, not a scam he just doesn't have any ranked servers.
but mentioning blacks ops and server rental gives impression youll be ready to host black op servers when they cant do that only gameservers can.
just false advertising to get some servers sold cause dedis are a waste of time now with black ops mw2 and a lot of big games going same way theyll be sweating soon .

True dat'.
Multiplay do not even advertise them anymore. I used to rent one but decided just to rent a gameserver in the end due to cost. They admitted to me they were not cost effective for them, or the consumer.

Yeah we got caught with GTx tbh, wont be gonig back to them. They said BF2 servers…. Then when I set one up couldn’t get it ranked, even tho there is an option in the GTX control panel…. So yeah in all Dedi’s are no a thing of the passed!
Its wrong of Black ops to only put one game server provider…. I’d have thought that would have breached anti ????? that thing where companies stifle the markets? Once again tho COD trying to destroy the PC gamer…. PFFT!

I would have thought EU Antitrust would be able to do something if it was big enough. Then again if they releasiethe dedis to everyone after 6 months or so it won't matter.

Yeah its wrong!! Still tho cheap servers from gameservers.com... we will be buying a full server.
thing is it isnt just cod its just cod is doing it first ea are doing it with there games coming activision have took the brunt of it
thing is there is no point in having a clan dedi now they know this cause most games are going the same way so a lot of game server companies are going to go bang .
black ops servers are supposed to be about a tenner a piece or 15 dollars that is good value and just confirms about no need for big dedis now.
look how greedy bf or ea was with how much bfbc2 servers are lol. i know a few also who have gtx servers for cod 4 and i have had them aswell there not bad but not best either.
anyway when black ops is out ill get a server from gameservers.com

No it's not anticompetitive.
If you declared this as anticompetitive you'd have to say selling your tv channel to only on satellite/cable provider is anticompetitive, exclusively selling your products in tesco etc would also be illegal.
Dedi servers still have a role for those of us in to online gaming not supported by the games companies. I'm mainly talking sim racing e.g. GTR2/Race07/rFactor etc.
I'm amazed at the prices as co-locating your own hardware at Poundhost (whom GTX appear to be using) is significantly more than GTX charge for a dual quad core xeon system. Does sound too good to be true!

Of course, and no doubt everyone else is thinking the same thing which means come release day, the servers will be overloaded and won't be able to take it.

You could host that.... but your servers will be laggy as hell!
I wouldn't bother, think about it... it costs £35/month for a unbranded 32 slot BC2 server with MP.... the fact some1 is advertising 8 x 32 slots servers for £35 kinda somes up the quality of servers you'll be getting!

The dedi I have (which is a proper dedi) could probably do 4 32 player servers in total without lagging (assuming a game like BFBC2)...but it's higher spec and more money than that...and runs linux rather than windows.
8 32 player BFBC2/equivalent servers without lagging is definitely a little optimistic.
That said, running less demanding games servers could enable you to run at least double the amount of servers very easily.
