Just been looking at broadband packages as currently our exchange is not LLU enabled :( The price of the Post Office Phone and Broadband Extra package seems really good @ £24.42 per month including line rental. The question is it any good?

It's meant to be unlimited downloads but has a FUP but that doesn't mention any maximum limits, so what is an acceptable amount on an unlimited quota?

I presume the package is basically BT wholesale but repackaged/branded?

Any thoughts or opinions? :)

I'd expect it'll be comparable to BT Retail (i.e. traffic shaped and low usage limits), but YMMV. It's certainly not going to be unlimited by any means.

Looked at O2? They're the cheapest unlimited downloads provider currently AFAIK. Think we pay £7.50 for unlimited 16mbps or similar :) (That's with us being O2 customers so getting £5 off)

i've just switched over to them tuesday just gone and compared to our last provider Tiscali, its great. Before we had to deal with uber slow speeds in the evening to the point of me pulling my hair out, but now it seems fine and as tolien says its BT.

the only bad thing i've read online so far about the post office is that their customer support is a bit naff but again we've had no problem.

here's the speeds im getting on it...

Well as long as 20Gb per month is OK, that should be fine :) Although can't find any details on what is acceptable.

Sadly our exchange isn't LLU enabled so can't get 02 :( Otherwise would have went for that as it's a bargain.

Cheers, looks good both the download/upload speed and the latency too. Will be interesting to know how you get on in terms of how much you can download and such. I presume your on the Broadband Extra package?

i am yes, as long as you don't excessively download between the hours of 6pm and 11pm you'll be fine i think. I'm in the same boat as you basically and the exchange has hardly anything enabled.

I've been with the Postoffice for nearly a year now and its been fine, the last couple of days my connection is being traffic shaped 84kb/s download and 15kb/s up :(

Modem status page is showing the connection sync'ing @ 6628 down and 448 up

EDIT: Problem has now sorted itself

Checked their website for the customer service number and i notice they've implementing a updated usage policy starting from the first of June. So take note of that :)

Hmm...interesting. Seems like it's OK for the money and when the exchange offers sparse choice :( I had a quick skim of the updated usage policy and doesn't seem to be anything noticeably different :/ Not sure if I missed something...?
