That's my thinking too as IT is certainly a dept that will be merged etc etc.

So I've got an interview at BMW Finanical Services in Hook tomorrow.

Not quite.

As it's legally impossible to takeover a building society, it's technically a merger. same thing at the end of the day though.

It still has to be approved by the Portman members at our AGM next April, and the Financial Services Authority and the Office of Fair Trading. The chances of it not going ahead are, well, exactly nowt.

It's supposed to be complete by September next year, but it could be earlier.

G|mp, where does Mrs G|mp work out of interest?

You have probably spoken to her numerous times without knowing, or you will know of her :)
 
I doubt I have ever spoken to her I'm afraid. Being in Treasury we very very rarely have any contact with the branches (and even when we do it's normally the branch phoning us when they should be phoning some other department!) The branches operate on the retail side of the business, but Treasury is wholesale (inter-bank) stuff, so we're not really closely involved.

I don't think I've ever spoken to anyone working in the Wolverhampton centre, or any of the staffs branches come to think of it.

So who is she then. A regional manager or similar I imagine?
 
Ah, but my department has very little to do with other departments. There are over 1100 people in head office alone and on a typical day my area interacts with at most 6 or 7, all from within one other department (and it's not a customer or branch facing area either.) Never have anything to do with the rest of the company. Like I say, we're inter-bank, not inter-department.
Now, if she worked in the Treasury for Barclays or HBOS or NAB or UBS or Danske or Deutsche or LBBW or HSBC or RBS or Soc Gen or any one of a hundred other banks then yes it's likely I would have!

It's been about four months since I last spoke to a branch person, I've never spoken to any of the regional managers, and I've never spoken to anyone in Wolverhampton, so like I say I doubt it. Would be interested to know who Mrs G|mp is, but I can see and understand you're reluctant to give that info away, no worries :) was just insterested is all....
 
Aye no worries it doesntbother me but shes a bit reluctant, god knows why :confused:

Having thought about it, it may be because her bf's called G|mp on a gay internet nerd forum :o
