Hi,

Thinking of picking up a controller for some casual gaming - is there anything better than an Xbox controller around?

Never really been a fan of the PlayStation controllers, so not looking at those.

Thanks

the bonus of the xbox controller is they are microsoft so you run into less problems. Nothing worse than having to manually set buttons in a game

you'll soon get the hang of it,i hated the idea from switching from ps3 controller to xbox but its fine now

had a Logitech rumblepad2 before and it was a pain to keep programming all the buttons for each game, the xbox controller just works

Really do prefer the xbox 360 over the lighter Xbox One version. The 360 wireless can be had for a decent price now days.

If you wanted to spend more, there is the Razer Sabertooth Elite, but IMO not worth the extra cash (twice the price!!).

When I looked, the wireless dongle needed to use a wireless Xbox 360 controller on a PC was almost as much as a new wired controller. Getting the latter means I can use it on my PC and I also have an extra controller for my Xbox 360. :)

I found triggers and thumb sticks more responsive on the Xbox one controller plus it was lighter for long gaming sessions

Both xbox 360 and xbox one controllers work great. On most modern games as soon as you press a button on the controller all the buttons in game change to controller, very seamless

I have a logitec and an xbox 360 wired controllers. The xbox one is much easier to use as in most games you don't have to sit there and configure the buttons for it

@ Andrew - but it feels horrid! I hate the way its not made of parts of plastic as opposed to entirely 2 pieces. Feels nasty on your hands!

@ Dragon - You can get after market receivers for around £3 off the 'Bay that work exactly the same.

@ leaskovski - As good as OC are, they are defiantly not the cheapest here. Going rate is £25 I'd say :P

Some of those aftermarket receivers are a bit dodgy on win 8.1 , they work after some "tweaking"

Oh got mine working alright, you have to install the drivers yourself as the ones you get given never ever work.

Dodgy or not, its better than getting eaten alive by the outrageous cost MS are trying to flog theirs for.
