Anyway to "clean" an SSD after moving a lot of files on and off it?

Hey guys, well I've got a corsair force 3 240GB SSD and I'm aware there is some sort of "trim" function but I'm new to it all and unsure as to how it works and it doesn't have the software that you get with intel SSD's to keep your SSD in tip top condition.

So I basically just filled my SSD up in the process of transfering all my steam games over and now am in the process of using the steam mover to move all but the most important games back onto another hard drive. The reason I did it this way was so that I can have steam on my SSD, an easier and cleaner way would have been to install steam on another hdd and move only the games I wanted onto my SSD but I wanted steam on it too.

Either way, is there some program now which I can run to sort of "defrag" my SSD after moving all those files on and off it or do they not suffer the problems that HDD have when you do such a thing?

Cheers guys.

just leave it as it is,trim should take care of it,or save what you have left to another hdd and do a secure erase on your ssd and copy the data back onto it

id leave it though trim should sort it out

TRIM will handle it at OS level.

Also, if your drive has it's own internal garbage collection. Reboot the system to the login screen and DO NOT log it in, leave it there overnight. Help keeps the system truly idle so that garbage collection can run.

Did you clean install Windows or Image it?

You can check TRIM is enabled by running the following from an elevated command prompt:

fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

It will return 0 if enabled.

Also, on an SSD Disk Defrag should be disabled. Superfetch disabled and ideally you want to remove anything but perhaps Start Menu from Disk Indexing.

Start > Search for "Indexing options" and load

Click Modify and add/remove locations as you see fit. An SSD is fast enough to not need to Index files for searching.

I see, I had heard of this leaving it idle on the log in screen. Yeah I already checked to make sure TRIM was enabled and that. Don't think I disabled superfetch as it's a 240gb ssd so figured I probably didn't need to worry about indexing.

Guess I'll leave it on the log in screen over night tonight as there will certainly be a lot of garbage on the ssd after moving 150gb on and off it again.

:EDIT:

Also, I did a full install. Like to do things as cleanly as possible really.
