ok been in touch with AOC europe today and have some really good news.

There is a firmware in the making that fixes the displayport not doing 144hz issue and is being released to general public very soon :D

They are swapping out all 3 of my monitors and either sending me new ones or taking mine in and flashing them to latest firmware so the issue will be fixed.

Happy days :D

Not going so smoothly.

They just emailed me this -

Thank you for your email.

Your reference numbers are: ************

Unfortunately, we don’t have the same models on stock at the moment.

You could either wait till we get the stock or, if you prefer, I can ask if we have a similar item in stock.

Please let me know what you would like to do.

Thank you
Kind Regards,

Clizia

I emailed back asking if its possible for me to flash them from here.

Wondering what they would offer as a `similar` product....

Yes this is the only 144Hz monitor they manufacture. They could swap it for a new revision perhaps. Maybe fixing the issue wasn't as simple as a firmware update? It does seem a bit strange to send you that given the initial communication they gave you.

I called them and they said they do indeed have no stock at all and that the firmware will not be released to the public and that the screens would have to be flashed in house, they advised me to either wait for new stock and the new firmware or basically return them to the retailer.
I have contacted ocuk and the other supplier and the `other` supplier has already agreed to take them back and refund me my monies, 2 screens being picked up tomorrow.

Are you not able to use your 2 Dual Link DVI outputs on the GPU instead to connect the monitors? Or do you have another screen that needs to use those outputs?

I have 3 of those aoc screens which i was trying to use for eyefinity and amd uses and requires the displayport to be connected which is the limiting factor

Sorry it's just you said you were returning 2 screens tomorrow. I realise now that you got them from different places so they aren't all going back tomorrow. ;)

Out of interest did this ever get resolved? I'm looking at that screen and wondering whether to risk it and hope that the screens now have newer firmware!

no and no

The firmware is not finished yet and not on any of the stock. I have returned 2 of the screens and the last one is being picked up on friday.

I at present would look elsewhere as even if your not using the display port connection, in the future if you wanted to you are limited to 60hz and the firmware from what i have been told several times by AOC will not be released to the public and they have to flash them at their warehouse.
So until the firmware is ready and starting to ship on the m i would think twice.
