I am having a nightmare trying to contact anyone at all at AOC regarding my monitor which is covered under warranty.

I noticed that a small bug became lodged behind the screen and was advised by AOC Repairtech to send them the monitor for inspection (the bug is causing pressure on the screen and some backlight/panel issues, affecting the picture) and was told that the warranty excludes foreign objects in the screen.

When checking the warranty in both my manual that came with the monitor and online, there is no mention of this anywhere.

All numbers on the AOC website direct to this UK company repairtech who are not AOC (which they have told me many times) and they have no contact information for the company at all.

Has anyone else encountered this? If so did you manage to find anyone at AOC who you could speak to? Kind of at a loss right now - not what I would expect for a £400 monitor that's just over a year old, would expect the unit to be correctly sealed.

Is the bug in question still alive inside the screen and moving about by any chance? If so, give it a few days if you haven't already done so to let it work it's way out, preferably with the monitor fully turned off as if it's the likes of a thunder fly (you will probably remember we had large a swarm of these during the hot weather a few weeks ago) then they will be attracted to light and this is what makes them crawl inside.

I had this on an old monitor a few years ago and simply didn't use the computer for a couple of days, after that the bug simply worked it's way back out of the monitor and never returned. Another alternative is to lightly tap one side of the monitor's bezel, because these bugs are that small and are able to crawl about while wedged between the back light and the panel - with a bit of luck the tapping on the bezel will cause the bug to fall to the bottom of the monitor, out of view. What ever you do, do not in the slightest be tempted to press on the area of the screen where the bug is as you may kill it and will remain behind the panel permanently.

Regardless, I'm surprised that AOC themselves are being a bit awkward about the whole thing as other manufactures out there will usually replace the panel in these circumstances if under warranty.

The bug is dead and not moving. Tried tapping the panel and it’s not budging, you can see that it’s stuck and putting pressure on the screen.

Issue is I am not dealing with AOC direct just their uk third party repair who can’t do much. I’m a bit stuck really as I would expect this replacing but can’t find anyone I can contact to discuss this.

If you purchased from a retailer rather than second hand you should contact them first. Despite what they may claim, your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer and any warranty issues should be carried out via them by proxy.

RepairTech are a useless shower of clowns, expect no help from them at all. Unfortunately AOC seems to be one of those brands that have no real presence in the UK, just an 'agent' - RepairTech.

I think your best hope is the original retailer, although bugs trapped in the screen are not generally accepted as a reason for RMA.
