Hi Guys

Just a small question for you.

I have just been round to my friends as she said that she updated her AOL software and the internet no-longer worked. I thought it was more than likely that the AOL update actually "broke" the software. A quick reinstall of the software proved this as it worked, and as soon as the update was installed it broke again.

The only problem is that she has a router and would like to use the wireless, however, I cannot get the router to accept the screen name and password (it has General 18+ Access as required). I let the AOL disk configure the router, but it does not like the screen name...even though it works fine with the modem and AOL Software.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Its not a case of logging onto the router, its the case of logging onto AOL with the router, I had to reset the router, but using the same screen name and password that has General 18+ access in the router config, doesn't seem to work, it claims that the password is incorrect, when it is correct as we are using the same user and password on the modem (just to get them online).

Are you using her actual logon name as the screen name? [email protected]?

For our AOL router we have to use a different logon/password for the router, [email protected]

Not sure if that helps sorry.

Same for my dad, she needs the routers username/password again now seen as its been reset (its something @dialbb.com for the username, with the password being a few letters/numbers), as she needs to get that connected first before she can sign on through the software using her original AOL screename/password, so she'll have to ring them up.:)

You don't need to sign on anymore through the software once you get the router connected if you don't want to btw, you can just open IE.

That is my intention but her mum insists that she likes the software. Anyway...I would insist of Opera or Mozilla Firefox :o

So I will tell them to give AOL a ring for the details then.

Thanks.

My dad insists he likes the AOL software, well I also do for email, thats it, I have no choice but to use it sometimes as some websites only work in the aol software and there is only 1 DNS server so cant try any others.
