AOL mac code within 5days

Waiting for my mac code from aol which i requested 5 working days ago with today been the last day

Whats the next step if they dont supply it
 
ask whats going on as it should only take a few hours (or less) to get a mac code generated.

If a company says 5 days its usually a stalling tactic

if they don't supply it after reasonable request I believe you can contact ofcom
 
Did you do it over phone or email?

Email is useless when asking for a MAC code with AOL. It's even hard to get one over phone.
 
did it via the aol client and got this email , guess ill have to find a phone number and give them a ring later on

Dear AOL Broadband Member,

Thanks for contacting AOL Broadband. It is our aim to help you migrate your
broadband service as efficiently as possible. You can learn more about the
migration process and MAC codes at About MAC codes - AOL Help. However, here is
a summary of what to expect:

* You should receive your MAC code within 5 working days

* Your MAC code is valid for 30 days from date of issue

* Your code will be sent by email and the email subject line will read Your
code to migrate your AOL Broadband service

* Your MAC code will be sent to your master screen name, unless you have
specified an alternative email address

* If you do not use your master screen name, you must provide an alternative
email address or mobile phone number to receive your MAC code

* If you have not received your MAC code within 5 working days please check
your spam folder to see if the email has been delivered there. To do this, open
your mailbox and click Spam Folder (this is in the bottom left hand corner of
your AOL mailbox). If the email has been delivered there, highlight it, and
click This Is Not Spam.
 
Yeah, phone is the only way with AOL (even 02 do not allow MAC requests on email)

What really gets me is why even have an option to request a MAC online if they are just going to either ignore your email or give an automated reply of "phone this number". I see no reason why i should need to go through this.

Stops people being accidentally disconnected, there's no way for them to verify the recipient of an email.

5 days is the legal maximum, afew hours is all it realistically takes (typically afew min).
 
Will be moving over to sky 20mb i think

on the page i did the mac request it asked me for the last 4 digits of the cred card i used to confirm it was the owner of account
 
rang sky up today they say that the MAC code i have is invalid.... rang up aol to confirm its correct which is it and AOL say there unable to give a new mac code for 30days
 
Ring AOL back and say you will refer the matter to ofcom if they refuse to issue a new and valid MAC immediately and say these tactics are well documented on the web and the ISP is always in the wrong.
 
I had the exact same happen with BT. They gave me an incorrect MAC when I asked for one when switching to Sky.

I called BT and they immediately gave me another one after a 5 min wait on the phone.

I would call AOL and demand one to be given there and then otherwise you will complain to Ofcom.
 
the guy from sky who i rang first time must be dyslexic 2nd phone call i made the MAC code worked
 
Pretty funny and just shows how much customers the bad ISP's in general are losing.

From earlier - "AOL say there unable to give a new mac code for 30days"
 
In my experience when I migrated to O2 it did not accept my MAC code either the first time, said it was not valid but when I tried again the second time it worked :confused:
