AORUS GEFORCE GTX 1080TI vs Nvidia FE 2080

Complete waste of time buying the 2080. You can't use the new tech yet and by the time it's available in more than a handful of games, the 7nm cards will be out. You should get the 1080ti and put your £130 towards getting a 7nm cards.

For all intent and purposes you will notice no difference in performance between the 1080i and the 2080.
I usually agree with most of your posts and I can certainly see where you are coming from. If the buyer is for sure looking to upgrade when 30 series hits then sure getting 1080 Ti now and saving the money could be the better move. But if not then better of going for the newer tech for the little more imo. Also worth mentioning is, it is not always about raw specs. Depending on the individual there is also a price for having the latest tech.

2080 will shine with dlss, I don't expect a fresh until 2020

I am not so certain. Will depend how well AMD do on 7nm early next year. They should easily be able to get close to a 2080 Ti if the architecture is any good, at worst somewhere between 2080 and 2080Ti. Nvidia may start losing market share if they can do this and offer it at a much cheaper price. Not just that, but I think Turing was meant for a smaller manufacturing process and the current RT cores and Tensor cores are not enough. They will want a fresh start and a new line of cards and fresh reviews praising them, rather than slating them.

I've gone the 1080 Ti route but buying second hand. At £620 the price of a new one was too close to a 2080 and then if DLSS offers the performance boost it could I'd be frustrated down the line at not soendspe a little more to have a piece of that cake. As it stands I've shaved over a £100 off the buy in cost of a new 1080 Ti and so that won't bother me and I can game very comfortably at my chosen resolution/refresh rate without worrying about what ifs.
