Aorus X7 V2 - no sound, left hdmi port not working

Hi All,

Bought the Aorus X7 V2 two days ago. No sound on the first startup, it says no speakers or headphones are plugged in. So I went on to do the following but none of them worked...

1. Used the built in Drivers Update to download and install the latest/official audio driver
2. Download and installed all Windows updates
3. Disable and then re enable the drivers
4. Full system restore

Tried connecting the laptop to my TV via HDMI, no response when it was plugged into the left port. But it worked with the port on the right, with video and sound.

Also tried plugging in a pair of headphones in the 3.5 jack, no luck either.

Can anyone shed some lights on this? Hopefully just some driver issues, or me not being competent.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if AORUS has the same software but on my Gigabyte laptop I had a program called smart update. Try updating the drivers on that.

Kind of doubting it will work. Sounds like an out right hardware problem but I guess its worth a shot.

Thanks Robbsy.

Yes, it has a similar program. I actually used it to download and install the latest/official driver.

My worst fear is hardware problem...

Alternatively try downloading the drivers directly from the websites then I guess. Unfortunately it does sound like a hardware issue :/ I know that's probably the last thing you want to hear.

I'm on my 2nd RMA now with my Gigabyte P35K so I've lost a lot of faith in Gigabyte/ Aorus. If I was you I'd get it sent back to Overclockers (assuming you've bought it in the last 30 days) and either get it replaced or refunded.

Also could try Aorus support for a quick fix but as I said, it seems more like a hardware fault.

wow! 2nd RMA, that is painful!

Yes, I've tried downloading the driver from the Aorus website, no luck either.

Will see what Aorus/Overclockers says. Thanks.

Just found another fault, none of the USB ports will charge... plugged in a PS3 controller to charge, it'll lit up for 2 seconds then goes blank... tried all the ports, same response.

Hmm that's weird. Have you tested whether they actually work? Like plugging a USB in and seeing if it shows up in MyComputer. If I was you i'd just get this returned and refunded asap.

Clearly something very wrong with it

OK, it recognise and charge both my tablet and my phone, just not the PS3 controller; my old laptop charges it OK. Strange...

Sent OCUK a message, just need to sit tight until they come back to work tomorrow.

Hello there,

I am sorry to hear of the issues you are reporting with the Aorus laptop purchased from us.

We don't really have any issues with these units as they are of a high quality so to me it is very strange to hear there may be a hardware defect with the sound.

Can you provide me the order number so I can have a look into this?

Also if you have sent a message one of my guys will get back to you.

Thanks

Bailey

Thanks for the order number

From looking at the system there are no emails or web notes come though to us.

Dear ak3888

We are very sorry to learn that your new AORUS X7 has a problem.

We are more than happy to exchange this unit for a brand new replacement. We will speak to OcUK service manager, Bailey, and get the process moving to take back and exchange for you.

At AORUS we intend to provide a premium quality product, backed up with the service that you deserve for making high value purchase.

As with all technology products it’s very difficult to get everything 100% right, 100% of the time, but when something isn’t quite right, we aim to make it right.

Hope this gives you exactly what you need.

Regards,

Gigabyte UK NB Team

Strange, I got an automated reply (see below). Anyhow, can you log the case now to move things forward?

Hi, I've received my order for the Aorus X7 V2 on 17/7. There was no sound on the first startup, it says no speakers or headphones are plugged in. So I went on to do the following but none of them worked...

1. Used the built in Drivers Update to download and install the latest/official audio driver
2. Download and installed all Windows updates

Also tried plugging in a pair of headphones in the 3.5 jack, no luck either.

Can you advise if there is anything else I can try? Or should I send it back for you to have a look?

Thanks.

Was good to speak to you ak3888,

I wasn't expecting any calls so when you were patched through you caught me off guard.

Collection has been arranged for tomorrow via so we can get this tested and replaced under RMA ASAP for you.

You will receive a notification via phone and email of the collection slot for tomorrows pick up.

I hope this helps

Thanks again

Bailey

Bailey, this has gone from bad to worse, DPD has sent the laptop back to me at my home address!! Please, can you arrange another pickup asap. Give me a call. Or see if you can arrange the pick up for tomorrow (Thu 24/7) at the same address, I will bring the laptop to work again for the pick up...

While this is not OCUK's fault, I can't say I am happy at all. I am now looking at 2 consecutive weekends without a properly functioning laptop which was paid for a week ago.

Hello ak

I have just seen this message on the forums, thanks for the phone call earlier and I am sorry to hear of this.

I have emailed DPD to see what went on so I can apologise on their behalf.
