I have bought a few different fans over the last 6 months but i have to admit im really disapointed with the performance of Akasa AK-FN058 Apache Black so far!!
Rather than buy 2 i bought 1 first to test it.
I have a antec 300 case with a fractal 140 top fan with a rear and front fan being The Nexus 120mm Real Silent Case Fan previously Sharkoon SE 1000s.
im using a Noctua nd14 cooler mounted towards the top of the case.
First of all i used the Apache as the front intake fan
after 9 runs of linX

Apache73/71/74/67
The Nexus 74/72/75/68

Now the rear (10 runs linX)
Apache 77/76//78/72
Nexus 74/71/75/68

Now i know there is a difference in runs by 1 but that doesnt cause a 3 degree increase.
Ah i hear you say the Apache produces less noise. i have to disagree based on the fans i have i have to say in order of the highest noise Apache, Noctua N12, Nexus basic and SE.

I think that your wasting your time by using the apache as an intake/exhaust fan. Being a PWM fan, its more suited to use as a cou cooler fan, with pwm speed control coming from the motherboards 4 pin cpu fan header.

I've always thought Akasa made poor quality stuff but for some reason a lot of people say the apache black is an amazing case fan. Never tried it myself but nexus do produce some good fans so i guess 3 degrees off is not too bad.

It's a bit late now but if you have space for a 38mm thick fan go with a panaflo 120mm L1A they can be found in the uk with a bit of looking about.

I agree, there seems to be a new trend of people using PWM fans for case cooling. I'm really not sure why. Perhaps it's because the apache fans looked cool, I'm not sure.

Its a bit of a let down (especially after all the recommendatios)when a fan less than half the price performs just as good as a case fan. The officill stats
Apache
Max airflow 57.53 CFM (97.74 m3/h)
- Sound level 6.9 -16.05 dB(A)

The Nexus
Acoustic Noise 18 dB(A)*
Airflow 36.87CFM

Whats the noise levels link on the panaflo as i would like to keep the volume down as much as possible without the aid of fan controler.

Manufacturers specifies:

Very Low Noise 12V - 69cfm 30dB(A) Silent 7V - 41cfm <19dB(A)

The supplier offers them with the standard 3pin connection or with a 7V resistor already attached so you can pick either without a fan controller. The ones i've got are quite old and have since been updated but i run them at 5V with a controller.

Im gona test the fans i have over the weekend as hsf and get rid of the ones i dont want. i think i give the panoflo a try aswell as the Scythe gt1850 as it is also highly recommended.

i think ill get one next to replace my standard led (1 led out) front fan which came with the case. i looked for 38mm ones hard to find.

Had 2 of the 1350 rpm yate loons in an akasa eclipse, nice and quiet yet good airflow. Great fans at a very good price.

Tbh, ive seen that D12SL-12 code on various different fans, i actually sent a freeway branded fan to another forum member this week, it was a fan that came with an old globalwin eclipse case, iirc it was a 1000 rpm fan as well, no idea on cfm as id never heard tell of freeway and i never used it in the case.

I have plenty of PWM fans as case fans. Reason is I like the better control of speed the mono gives (down to 500rpm or up to 2500rpm) that a normal 3pin fan won't give.
