I'm in work and we're having a discussion about what would win in a fight between an Apache gunship and a fighter jet. I think a jet but everyone else thinks Apache. One of my friends is undecided on the whole thing.

What do you lot think?

Jet every time. The apache is not equipped for air to air combat, not to mention the jet could bring it down from beyond visual range.

Which jet?

(Apache, as they're centred on ground strikes aren't they? But which jet anyway)

I suppose it depends on who is flying them really.

If the jet is being flown by a 6 year old with no flight experience then I rekon the Apache would stand a good chance. On the otherhand, if the Apache pilot was blind and had a wooden leg, the jet would probably win.

Too many factors imo.

Give me the jet any day, but for carefully obliterating a whole hillside at close range I think the gunship would take some beating.

I dont care, but I found an amazing video when googling it.

jets can fire anti air missiles from over the horizon, so the chopper wouldn't even know there was a jet until it was hit :p

Wow.

Note to self, if ever on fight speed plane, don't crash into nuclear power plant wall.

Depends entirely what type of jet; an Apache might stand a chance against an A-10, but would get torn apart by an air superiority fighter like an F-15.

But then, the Apache is not designed for air-to-air combat; it's a gunship :)
