So im absolutely bricking it about building my first pc this weekend .
Ive ordered the parts from here and there.

Is there a special screwdriver kit or anything like that needed when building a pc?
And what about paste?

ive ordered a x570 msi edge wifi board and a 3700x

all advice appreciated

thanks

Hi

Is it too late to cancel the order for the motherboard ? That MSI is pretty awful.

As for building a pc you should be fine with a Philips screwdriver and a pair of sidecutters/snips for cable management if using cable ties. A magnetic driver is also helpful if you have one. I would also have a small container for screws etc so that they don't get lost whilst building.

The cpu cooler will have it's own thermal paste either already applied or a sachet/tube etc included.

which motherbord would you recommend?

i 100% need wi fi and would prefer x570 so im kind of future proofing my self

You might need a smaller screwdriver to screw an M.2 in but it's the sort of thing you'll get with any screwdriver set and probably have one sat around.

Agreed on the mobo, either wait it out on the Tomahawk or get the Elite imo, even the Gigabyte Gaming X would be better at £170.

That aside, there's plenty of step by step guides on youtube where you can watch people build. It's not as difficult as people tend to think, there's honestly more complex Lego sets out there. The worst bit is the cable management in most builds, and with the modern trend of PSU shrouds and decent rear panel routing it's really not that bad.

I would need a x570 motherboard with wifi .. which one would you recommend?

Is it this board?

The X570 Tomahawk above would be a much better option but it is still pre-order. The ETA is end of the month/1st week in June.

If you want X570 and can't wait for the Tomahawk, then I would look at the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite and a pcie adapter. It will cost a bit more money overall, but it is a better board than the Gaming Edge wifi.

when you put the thermal paste on, use an X (diagonal corner to corner)- seen a Reddit video with all different shapes and a clear piece to see through. That provided the best spread coverage on the CPU.

thanks for the advice .. last few parts are due to arrive today ar 4pm
