APB anyone getting it

Glad I got to play the beta. First day I thought it was a definite purchase, really cool idea and lots of funky customisation options. Unfortunately the game lacks variety and got boring quite quickly. Not worth the sub. If they ditched the payment model and went F2P and added a bit more content I might pick it up because there were some moments, like chasing down a crim with the sirens blaring and your favourite tunes on the radio, where you'd catch a glimpse of what the devs were going for.

I could never figure out what one actually does in the game. As far as I can make out, the only thing there is to do is shoot other players... But then the shooting is so mediocre that I'd rather just play like, a proper shooter. There's just no other features in the whole game, and that's a little bizarre. Wasn't this supposed to be like the dream project of one of the main designers of GTA 1/2 and Crackdown? If so, he must be living a nightmare right now, because the game is just bad.

But there's people that seem to be enjoying it, so I guess I'm just missing something. My hours in the beta have more than turned me away from the game at this point. And I really liked the idea of kind of combining GTA and Crackdown and turning it into a MMO.

It's a bit of a weird game, neither here nor there kinda thing. I'm so burnt out on traditional fantasy MMOs I thought I'd give this a shot. But ultimately its just a poor mans shooter. I did have some fun in my 10 hr pre release time but as a regular sub I don't think so. Still I got 50 hrs and I expect by then I'll be done with it. The customisation is great but the game seriously needs more depth/variation....got a feeling this will either tank completely or the devs will turn it F2P pretty quickly (ala Global Agenda) to try and stay afloat. A shame in a way, as it could have potentially been quite decent.

god it looks horrible

I played the beta, and was playing GTA4 EFLB at the time. The game looked like 5 years old tech which is all the more surprising that some of the GTA4 team worked on it.

Also once you have played the tutorial you have seen it all tbh. Its PvP combat only no "end game" or side-game for better loot. I'm not at all interested in dressing my character or a new paintjob for my car. That is the only alternative to PvP.

Interested in this, but I generally don't play multi player games, is there a way of seeing what it's like first - demo etc?

Got a Q6600 at 3Ghz with 4GB and 5870 card, I get the feeling it won't be enough

There was a week long pre-release demo, surprised you didn't see it. Couple of site were giving out a few thousand keys.

This game is brilliant in a group, just spend three hours with the same 3 guys doing missions. Unlocked the SPAS-12 & Desert Eagle look-a-likes, went on a spree, got prestige 5 just as a mission ended against 8 people and killed 5-6 of them netting me a good $500 within a few seconds :D Then stood next to a car which blew up ><

Bit 'meh' on your own, though, also could use a function when both teams have 4 players, to call in more players, the bigger battles are a lot of fun.

Only just come back to OCUK recenty and funny enough bought a new case and so forth.. Wedding plans and RC Racing have taken most of my time up.

Yup I don't know anyone who games on the PC, most of my work colleague are XBox boys etc.

Is it worth the £30 etc

There seem to be a lot more higher prestige Enforcers than high threat crims around I must say.

The amount of times I've been on a low level team vs some top level Prestige players with hundreds of R is too many to count. I think the matchmaking system does need some tweaking still.

8GB of RAM to play games? You sir are crazy, no need for that at all!

As for APB, I played the BETA/DEMO and it was boring. I prefer my FPS with meat.

me?

i use zbrush and potentially work with models of about 50million polys.

try doing that on 2gig of ram :P

(that and it cost me less than 4gb ;) )

just been playing, i love it :D

playing with a group of people and its much more fun. They seemed to know eachother and understood i didnt know squat, so waited about for me etc etc and chatted over voip (i didnt, its far too late and im half asleep)

great first impression though :)
