APB beta

Its probably just load testing, we are the extra weight that may or may not break the camels back.

After that we will likely get more time.

I won't get a chance to try it tomorrow night as i get home a couple of hours after it ends, but i noticed in the setup tutorial screenshots the launcher had a message that there were playtests 3 times a week at the time the screenies were taken so hopefully they do that again at some point.

I have to admit that i'm a bit wary of this kind of beta testing, the only other company i've experienced doing it is Cryptic with both Champions Online and Star trek Online. We all saw how they turned out. Perhaps when i get a chance to play next weekend or whenever the next test is i'll be proven wrong, hopefully :)

Just tried it... a little better lag wise - but still too much lag to make it playable :(

They've made progress since I last played though :)

Been playing since 20:00. No Lag, everything on high! Looks beautiful! amazing concept and works really well. Just two hours isnt enough testing. However, for a BETA its really nice and is a lot of fun when in random groups!

Same for me, I think it'll be a fun game when its done but its pretty unplayable atm. Also I was expecting to be able to catch criminals in the act and call in other players. Most of my time was spent in 1v1 missions which was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for some epic chases and gunfights.

Pretty much sums up my experience.

They've got a lot of work to do between now and release if they want this to be anywhere near decent.

Despite me winning three out of the four 1v1 missions I had, the shooting mechanics just didn't feel right at all. You could barely tell if you'd hit the opponent.

The driving mechanics had potential, but responded way too slow.

Overall, the best part was the character customisation.

i spent the last 10 mins being chased by the rossers for mugging some old lady. Lots of innocent pedestrians bounced off the front of my car in my bid to escape :)

Not sure how you had no lag?! =\
It's not client-side lag we're talking about - the driving is still "Press Left - Go left in about a second" sort of lag :p

I'm pretty sure that talking about stuff like this goes against the NDA :P

I do need a system upgrade though. 1440x900 windowed and I was barely managing 40fps. Still, they do say they want a quad core, so I guess I can't complain too much. Here's hoping for more optimization though!

Had my first play last night (furious fighters also). Only had about an hour on it, but seems to have potential. Had a little lag, but very playable still. Looking foward to testing it some more :).

EDIT: I didn't look last night, but is their a friend list we could add each other on?

Probably best to start an OcUK forum thread on the APB beta forums to sort that out, just to avoid any reason to get kicked or suspended from beta ;)

Wasn't sure where to put it, so stuck it in the recruitment section, not that we're a gang or whatever guilds are called in APB.

It does, even mentioning that you've been accepted is breaking the NDA. Some betas let you get away with that, WAR springs to mind but most don't.

Not that it's stopped any of us on here in the past :p

I missed this weekends test but don't think i need to be in at work this coming weekend so i should get a chance to try it out this time.

Reading the above doesn't give me much hope though, but i'll wait and see i guess. Release was scheduled for spring this year at some point but a quick google now says quarter 3 so still plenty of time to tweak out the lag.
